Rear battery cut off switch??!

Whent to the track and since our batterys were in the back with out the proper NHRA approved battery box, vented to atmoshpere and no rear cut off switch.We could not race.
I'm sure people have delt with this before.Has some one made a switch that you can pull out of your Approved battery box and put between the tail gate and the glass to go racing. Then put it in the box when your daily driving? Any body delt with this recently?

Ive got a switch on the bumper...comes out of the pass. side plate light hole.

I have one inside the center console that uses a big red plastic key. Good security device as well...

This has been posted many times just SEARCH ! Also you may want to pick up a NHRA rule book too. BTW T-Bone a switch in the console is not NHRA legal if you were to go racing your truck at a track but for Security it is good but can be easily defeated with jamming a pencil or pen etc in the hole to make contact those switches are cheap.

I have one like crusader8 has and its for sale with a ty battery relocate and all cabling.

I have a marine style battery cut off switch as well. Red/ Orange key, but I put a hole in my rear licence plate so the key sits in the right side of the plate while driving. When I'm at the track I take the plate off and I have on/ off stickers next to the hole. Works well, havent had any problems with cops about it, fairly easy to install and the battery never ever goes dead this way.

Check out the little red dot next to my plate on the last Typhoon in the picture...thats the only shot I could find of the switch...im also running an RPM battery relocation kit.

Thanks Big Mike I was just being lazy I guess but I never been checked in the back for the battery till now. I like the photo crusader8.
I don't want the switch out all the time.Its a driver. some one could just hit the battery switch tow or take my phoon. I'll keep searching and see what I find.

I think I found what you used in the summit catalog. A remote disconnect battery switch.I think it would work perfect, just a little wire that goes to a dedicated switch. I could put the switch in a box of some sort and stick it to the back window with double sided tape or make a nice box that slips on the edge of the window and the wire would just tuck in between some where.Then when I am not racing i could wind it up and stick it in the battery box. Thanks for all the input.Well see how it comes out.

I'm not sure how strict my local track's tech is, so I've been pondering what all is required not to get turned away over a kill switch. Shy of talking to someone at the track, or breaking down and buying a rule book, here's what I've pieced together (from here and elsewhere):

"Kill switch" required if battery is moved from stock location.
KS must be on rear most part of vehicle.
If push/pull type, push must = off.
KS not of plastic construction.
No "removable key" switches.
Switch shall kill engine as well (pink/blk alt wire).
On/off positions shall be clearly marked.
Add small fused wire to ecm to retain codes etc.

As Big Mike said, there are a lot of posts regarding this, but I've yet to find one that covers it all "in one breath". Closest I've seen is this thread, I just thought a summary of this (and other) info would be nice...HTHs

Feel free to add, I'll edit to include so maybe everything relevant can appear in one place.
