Taking my daughter to school this morning, and just pulling on the main street 1-2 shift and bang. Lost all forward gears. Luckily still had reverse and reversed back to the garage (3 alleys and a parking lot) and got the daily driver. She wasn't even late for school. Now need a recommended shop in Chicago area to either rebuild the 700R4 or swap a 4L80E. This is a truck for street and cruising and made it to 74K with all the stock parts (trans fluid changed every 30k with Dexron III and lubegard). Any advice would be appreciated.

probably broke the forward sprag. i'd have a good shop go thru it. lots of rubber seals that have probably gotten hard and brittle in 22 years.

it may still pull in low 1 or 2

Thanks, that's the problem with our midwestern Syclone. Not run enough in the winter seals dry out. Looking at working with Sportmachines for a rebuild.

Can anyone list out the Syclone specific parts on the 700r4 want to make sure I get my money's worth on a rebuild

Man i got a fully rebuild tranny here with a 2800 stall
converter 9 /11 diameter i wish the shipping was not so
expensive or i would help you out !!!
Just rebuild your tranny with kevlar upgrade clutch kits it will
take a lot more beating than the stock GM units !! ;)

Just wanted to update everyone, got the Syclone back from the trans shop Dugan's in Chicago replaced the trans with one I purchased from JPalmer here on syty. Truck is running great and shifts as hard as ever. Special thanks to JPalmer for a great deal trans was just what he said it was!, I was able to get her back on the road for $1500. With 2 little girls, I don't have the kind of money for a complete rebuild.
