Popped my racing cherry this evening

Keith (Sy 1193) and my parents came to Wilmington this evening.

We went to Cecil County Dragway in MD and I raced nmy truck for the first time. It was actually the first time I ever raced and I had a great evening.

My first pass was my fastest at 13.77 but then I screwed up my Greddy and was running 14.10 on the second two. I sandbagged to get the boost up and only managed around 9 psi. The next two launches were worse at 6 psi but my reaction time was down to .503. Lots of learning/tuning to do!!

The lower IC isn't working so it got hot and I decided to rest and saw the PS pump was leaking and the fluid was smoking under the truck.

I nearly didn't get to run due to flip flops and shorts and an illegal racing helmet but we talked the tech guys round.

Keith gave me loads of advice and I managed to avoid a red start.

It was a very cool experience and I learned a lot. I was also very flattered - loads of people knew what I was driving and were commenting on the truck saying how great it looked and what a nice ride it is.

I have a lot of tuning to do but Keith is really keen and a great guy so I am confident I can get more out of this beast, starting with the Greddy. Looking forward to some faster times I hope!

Right on bro! USA Racing ftw!

Btw, thanks for being a dik and not inviting me. I'm at the truckstop in Elkton, MD (DE/MD border for the weekend).

Other than that, congrats, despite the minor tech biffs you encountered :)

You're welcome for being a dik and not telling anyone you were in town! I even looked at the exit for Elkton on the way home!!!

Sorry man! How long are you there for? When are you back down?

Thanks - it was a fun time!

I'm sitting here at The TA until early Sunday morning when I leave for DC.

Hit me up if ya wanna go eat somewhere, the restuarant here blows as as severe as Harmon collects cheap sytys.

VIDEOS !!!! Sorry for the quality...taken with my phone.

CHERY POP (MP4)

CHERY POP (WMV) - 720p HD

We went to the track a bit unprepared...mostly my fault I wasn't thinking. I considered it an honor to help him out as it was his first time. So... Mark almost always has shorts on and flip flops a big NO-NO for the track. So he bought a pair of pants and we were swapping shoes when I discovered he had a pair of boots in his truck. I showed up with the wrong laptop which didn't have the logging software on it so there was no log of the runs. The track was almost deserted...good for a first timer. There was no pressure. I told him not to worry about a reaction time just to go thru the steps and take his time and he did. He went around the water and no burnout. We didn't worry about tire pressures or anything like that I just wanted him to get it down the track safe the first time. His last run he lined up and took off on the lights. .503 reaction I think. He has some time slips now and a baseline we can tweek a few things to try to get his gas mileage a little better and hopefully get the boost controller back in line. He was pecking at that boost controller...BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP trying to get the setting for more boost after his first run...I am thinking HE IS HOOKED. Looks like a junkie trying to get his fix. LOL.

Mark had a good time I think. When I showed him this video he smiled ear to ear like a Cheshire Cat :rotf:
