Poland's Solution to Street Racing

Broke Ass Racing
Re: Poland's Solution to Street Racing

The street racing scene in Poland is pretty serious, and they have some heavy hitters out that way for sure. I'd love to watch some video from the event.

The only thing that worries me about those pics is no barricades. There is no protection for the spectators which is why it would never be allowed here in the U.S.. Here, one blown tire would end up in hundreds of lawsuits with everyone from the driver all the way up to the city and state getting sued. I hate lawyers.

Re: Poland's Solution to Street Racing

Be nice if more cities had a program in place to deter racing on public roads instead of just confiscation and crushing tactics.

We have midnight madness at gateway raceway here.
Once a month on friday night they run from 8pm to 3am with no times posted.
There is a win/lose light and you get a time slip for your lane only.
It keeps the kids off the streets and even gives the heavy hitters somewhere they can run discretely.

And what happens in the pits stays in the pits. ;)
I have seen money exchange hands more than once though.

Thats the first thing i said no barricades for the people. Im pretty sure they sign something stating that the country wont be liable if something bad happens. it will stop once something does.

Great idea, but there aren't any safety barriers, so that wouldn't exactly fly here in the 'States...

not much. However a lot of street reacing doesnt take place with dozens of people standing all along the side. Some of it definitely does though. Not that it makes it much safer but... you know what I mean ;)

Re: Poland's Solution to Street Racing

I think a late night street race of 20-50 bystanders is probably safer than a few hundred lined up only feet from the action.

But they are not taking into account safety of bystanders it is the other drivers on the road.
and by designating a street for them to race at least the police are protecting the innocents that were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The people standing along that strip are knowingly standing in danger's path.
Then again some of those cars couldn't get out of their own way so you'd have plenty of time to step aside as the car came at you. lol

lol, yeah that about sums it up. Some Air Force bases years ago would let members use the alternate runway on the weekends for drag racing. All was good till a member was killed in a crash. Then the AF brass banned it.

U-2 pilots have chase cars that they use to chase plane down the runway on landing. In the late 90's they were using Z-28's and I believe they have some GTO's now. You can find in-car videos of em on Youtube.

Re: Poland's Solution to Street Racing

Yes Robert had som realy bad exerience on one of the race in poland,

Storming down a BAD strip at 150+ Mph just to find some fire reschue team doing some cleaning in the middle of the trac just 100 feet after finnish line, allmost hit 2 - 3 of them..

Ive said it before (they are entusiastic about racing) BUT NOT UP TO SAFETY STANDARD YET..

Not on cars or tracs.. YET.

Think this is to be found on Utube..
