I have been runing open downpipe on the truck for awhile I have logged it and I have no knock(with 110 octane) but

My quesiton is as far as like longer driving maybe 20-30 miles is there any problem with this. Is it going to cuase any turbo damage or anything I should worry about.

I have just been to lazy to run exhaust and I wanna drive my truck thi weekend but dont want to hurt my turbo. so any input is helpful:tup:

Adam was or still is running a open downpipe......

He went from Orlando area to Miami like that....unless he actually ran an exhaust.

Ive been running open DP on my PTE52 for years now. Absolutely no issues, just lots of stares  Im sure you've noticed that spool up is super fast now with basically no backpressure

The only thing to worry about is if you sit in one place for a long time and of course, enclosed spaces. After in town drives with sitting at lights, I usually get out of the truck smelling like gas and exhaust. I typically roll with my windows down all the time. Just be aware of it (like you would forget anytime you drove or started your truck) and you shouldnt have any probs.

Re: Open Downpipe???

its not bad to run an open Dp, you can get a "Noise" violation but thats the worst thing that will happen. Sandrails run a very short Dp like 6" to 12". They don't have turbo issues 'till they suck sand.

Re: Open Downpipe???

I would recommend getting an electric cutout if you live in the city. Mine has kept me from getting a ticket at least twice. The last time I was out, I stopped at a restaurant that I go to often. It's in a strip mall and there is a movie theater at the other end. There is always a cop sitting outside the theater. Even though he was probably a 1/4 mile away from me when I pulled into the parking lot, he heard me and drove down to see what was up. By the time he got there, I was already walking towards the restaurant. He slowed and looked at me and then the truck and drove off. Later when I came back out, he was still at the theater and he drove down and parked about 100 feet from me and waited for me to start it up and leave... I flipped the switch on my cutout and I drove off quiet as a church mouse since I have the full exhaust back on my truck. I wonder if he knew it was in fact me with the loud ass exhaust or not.
