race or get outta the way
again since this motor wasnt oem when i took it apart, you will understand my reasons for these questions.
The new oil pump comes with a white nylon bushing about a inch or so long and 1/2 wide, cylindrical in shape with a steped id of maybe 1/4 inch eyeballing all the dimensions.
The oil pump shaft that came out of this had a metal collar around the oil pump end that was held on to the shaft with a a rollpin.
they told me this was not the oem shaft.
is this correct?
The shop next to mine tells me i dont need the nylon piece since the collar on the shaft does the same thing.
Is this correct?
Also i had puchased another shaft from arp but the arp unit doesn't seem to fit into the oil pump shaft as well. the arp unit looks like the male rectangular end is a bit smaller that the unit that came out of this motor.
The result of this is that the arp shaft can wiggle more so i was thinking i should simply stay with the shaft this came with?
also when i removed the pump from the top of the no 4 main bearing cap there was no gasket or seal of any kind between the 2.
Should there have been.?
The service manual doesnt show one either.
I havent checked the fit with prussian blue yet but i will if this is supposed to be metal to metal on the pump to main sealing faces.
