I'm off work from Dec. 21-30...

Anyone down for rebuilding a trans? Got one sitting here in a crate, in the garage. If I can get parts for it, and bring it down....

we tear it apart, video tape it all, pics etc.

If you guys rebuild a transmission...I guess I can be motivated to drive an extra 2 hours.

First of all... if meet is gonna be at Jeff's, obviously its his call. I don't mind, cause one way or another this thing is getting rebuilt before next spring.

I have talked to Jesse about how he felt about doing another trans build, and IIRC he sounded interested, that it was fun work. Don't know if he'd want to help try and tackle one while he is in OH. I'd obviously need the help from him... not to mention tools from someone.

It would be cool if it could be done. But if nobody really sounds interested, or thinks its a good plan, no biggie.

I don't mind at all the event here.

I don't mind a tranny rebuild being done, I have video camera and most tools you will need, combined hopefully with what tydriver can bring down.

I am 99% sure I won't be able to walk you through it though with other people being here also. So if Jesse or someone else wants to help no problem.

Garage will have heat by then also.

We should be up to ear lobes in a new non syty project also, for people to check out.

Just name a date, I have from Dec 24th-Jan2nd off from work.

I also need to mention, with the uncertainty in my schedule @ work during this time frame (will probably be on mids around Xmas or sooner) and not knowing what my days off are gonna be. I have to recommend Jeff's also. I cant guarantee I will be able to make it due to the work scene so I dont wanna have an issue with a late cancellation, etc.

So if you guys are interested I'd really need to point it towards Jeff.

BTW, he lives in Jeffersonville Indiana which is just across the border from Louisville for those of you out of state-ers.

The trans idea may be a bit much to try and tackle during this meet, so I'm not so sure it'd be a good idea.

I'm also considering just pulling the valve body off my spare trans, overhauling it and swapping out the one on the truck.

Reason is, I drove the truck today and it still has good strong shifts, fluid is fresh (less than 200 mi) and it doensn't smell burnt.

So I'm considering just trying an overhauled valvebody, because it could be something like a sticking valve. I'll probably just re-use everything as far as valves/springs go. I'd like to go ahead and replace the cheap little parts, like the pressure switch and anything that looks damaged/warn. Obviously I'm going to need gaskets, etc. and should probably eliminate the TV exhaust check ball.

Sorry for going off topic a bit, just wanted to explain my reasons if the bringing the whole project down there is a bit too much.

later,

The credit for this idea really goes to Todd. Thanks for the idea buddy, I'm sorry I tried to steal it for my own. :D

As far as I know it will be at Jeff's in Jeffersonville Indy, as for a date I am available Dec 22 - Jan 3. This is when my christmass break is from school. I would say let's let Jeff decide on a date since it's at his place. Jeff, what do you think?

I am not sure yet, hence my avoidance of answering questions.

I may know more by next week, still trying to figure out when I am heading back to visit the hometown myself.
