First, thank you all for your patience, we know this is a long time coming but we did not want to prematurely announce anything without 100% certainty of at least a few things. There are some other things still being ironed out, but those details will come as soon as they can.

The 2016 SyTy Nationals will take place in Bowling Green, KY. The event dates are Thursday, July 21st – Sunday, July 24th.

You may discuss this in the thread, however this is some background in how this all came to be.

Before the hating begins, there was a Date Thread in which only 62 people participated, so if the date is the issue and you did not vote, please do not voice your opinion now. We already know we will never please everyone, just know we took every vote into account.

There was also a general thread on how far you would be willing to travel to an event such as Nats, at the time we were not sure if it was going to be "Nats" or something different. An awesome 164 people voted in this, as well as provided their zipcode either on this forum or in the SyTy.net FB Group.

Your zipcode and max. distance you would travel was entered into a database and calculated against every track we came up with where we could hold this event. We went North, East, West and South. We started with some general locations such as St. Louis, MO, Indianapolis, IN, Bowling Green, KY and even Cecil, GA.

The attendance numbers dropped when we went south, as well as west, even though we were trying to bring back Nats to Kansas City, even contacting 6 different private or municipal airports in a 12 - 45 minute drive of the old Double Tree Hotel, but unfortunately those did no pan out, but we really really tried.

In the end, Bowling Green and Indianapolis were nearly identical in 100% attendance (those who fit into the category based on mileage and zipcode), but there were considerable more people who fit into the "maybe" category, which were those who were 100 miles or less from fitting into the 100% attendance category.

For those who would like a visual, this is what everyones' location looks like in a map. This does not represent distance those dots are willing to travel, that was calculated in not so visually appetizing spreadsheets.

So in closing, this how choosing a location and date was made. This is as transparent as we can say it, we know there will be people who are going to be disappointed, we are sorry, but we can only do so much.

 Congrats on picking date and location! Now the fun begins.

I enjoyed the Corvette museum...not sure if that's on the list of activities. (and I'm not sure if the sink hole is fixed or not.)

2057 miles one way. Around $800 in gas alone.
We do understand its a haul from the west coast, but looking at the data, we only had 5 or 6 people who even opted to vote or give information to process, of those 1 person was most likely going to fly in, another said they would travel any distance and the remaining votes gave a distance that wouldn't get them out of Nevada.

We hope that with upcoming announcements it might be worth a plane ticket to come out and socialize with your fellow SyTy owners for a weekend.

This would be awesome.

According to the calendar no one has it Friday July the 22nd.

Just a thought.

It's already in the works, just nothing official yet. This is part of reason why we had to kill the weekend of the 14-17 because its Corvette Homecoming weekend. Unfortunately it puts us a week closer to the Carlisle event and we already know a number of people who cannot attend the weekend we had to go with, but maybe we will be lucky and it won't rain this year.

I'm not really complaining. I'm actually strongly considering going. Looking at the map, I can stop at my sister's house on OK. I'd probably tow the Ty over there so I can thrash it over there.

First, BG is 90 minutes from me so this post may not pass the common sense test.

Second, this has probably already been considered but perhaps not.....

Since the events are so close in proximity, could Nats not be combined with Carlisle? Yes, Carlisle is 13 hours from me and I plan to attend this year, as well as some others that have not been yet. If the main thrust of Nats is to assemble SyTy enthusiasts together, that goal can be achieved at Carlisle. Like Gary stated, most folks have limited leave and financial resources that will force them to eliminate one of the events.

BG is a well oiled machine and quite close but I am thinking out of the box for the welfare of other forum members AND what facilitates the greatest turnout with minimal impact.

Perhaps a poll would ease the difficulty of determining what to do: who plans to attend what event and who can attend both :dunno:.

Like Tom from Sportmachines and others have said they do not want Carlisle to be affiliated or replace SyTy Nats. Yes they do bring SyTy enthusiasts together and the Carlisle meets have been successful in attracting large crowds of trucks ( like last year SyTy's had the largest group present). Carlisle and SyTy Nats should remain separate events IMO.

Tom is on the Nationals Committee and as well the Organizer of the Carlisle. I am sure they are aware of the events being so close to each other. It has been discuss on the forum in the past about combining the events and has been chosen to be kept separate.

After the Nationals Committee put all the effort into planning the event, you suggest they cancel it and combine it with another event and slap the Nationals Label on it? The topic has been discussed in the past, so why rehash in the announcement post. Post a poll to try to figure out what to do? I find that insulting to the people who have volunteered their time organize the Nationals event. A lot goes into planning an event. Why try to derail the event after the work has been done? Personally if you object to having the Nats & Carlisle, you can vote with your attendance to the event(s).

Re: Official Date & Location

Glad to see this continue and information being announced so everyone can plan. Appears I can be there Thursday, and most of Friday. I suspect unless something happens Dave Alwine and I will be in Memphis Saturday and sunday though running a top fuel bike.

Re: Official Date & Location

I am planning to attend. If crude oil prices continue to stay down, it will help keep the tranportation costs down for those of us driving long distances. This is looking like the year of cheap gas.

I was going to buy some new rims and tires for my Syclone with my bonus this year but I just figure out after doing my taxes I totally screwed up my withholdings. (I changed jobs and got a good sized raise). I will have to figure something out since I have drag radials.
