OEM Tire Replacement

Replacing the original factory tires on my new Syclone. Any good recommendations for a basic all-weather tire to go with? Will be doing mostly highway driving and spend time in the rain,

Many thanks!

Serious about performance
If by basic you mean "cheap" the Cooper Cobra GT-H or GT-Z are good tires for cheap on the real, $~90 if you find them on sale at Sears Auto, I run the GT-H on my other car and they have worked great, this is the widest tire you can get in 245/50/16 size (9.35" tread width) short of a Drag Radial so they look pretty mean. The GTH is rated to 130 MPH and the GTZ is 169 or some high number. Obviously the GTZ is softer with better traction but will not last as long as the GTH. With the GTH I hooked 2.05 60' on a front wheel drive car. My only complaint with the GTH is they are not directional tires, they are the same, makes for easy rotation but lose some performance. The GTZ however is directional to the best of my knowledge.

If you like name brand, I also like the Goodyear Eagle GS-C, again if your cheap like me you can get 5-mile take-off new tires at www.slponline.com for less than $100 a piece.

I put on a set of BF Goodrich Comp TA VR4 almost 3 years ago and have just replaced the front two because of a bad alignment. The rears still have over half the tread on them. They handle great in snow and rain. I would highly recommend these it you are looking for a set of good, long lasting tires.

Thanks guys,

My biggest thing with the trucks that I've had in the past has been being worried about the rear getting loose in the rain on the highway. But you know with the AWD it's been pretty amazing the first few weeks tooling around. Completely a much safer feel. Other thing that's been kind of cool is driving the truck up on my ramps yesterday to change the oil and flush the coolant for the first time. The fronts grabbed the ramps. Real smooth. Other cars and trucks I've always had to stab the throttle or really feel the clutch to make sure that I dont over shoot the ramp.

I think I'm going to check out the Comp T/As. Heard that Sears might be pretty sympathic to wear if they wear too quick?

BF Goodrich KDW. Good wet and dry traction. I can do boosted launches in the rain. 8)
These tires are popular with some of the autocross guys I have talked to.
