Nor Cal Meet DATE CHANGE

SEE LATER POST FOR DATE CHANGE INFO.

Howdy all,

We're gonna try to have a final (for the summer) Nor Cal meet at my place in Santa Rosa, Ca. (One hour north of San Francisco in case you're wondering.)

The basic plan is to meet at my place and then in the early afternoon go visit the worlds largest oil can collection and, believe it or not, a hot rod assembly line. Yes this guy builds hot rods. You'll have to see it to believe it.

The "ranch" is only about a mile away and they'll be some great photo ops as well. (My Avatar was taken there.)

Here's a couple of photo links:

Re: Nor Cal Meet

Hi Don, know you are out of town right now but wanted to list my comments about the fall event and tell everyone interested that you can relay your comments to me at mtb9192@juno.com so we can get a head count of who is interested in doing this event. I was hoping if maybe we could get some of the south bay area trucks together and caravan up to Santa Rosa that Saturday morning? We could have a nice morning drive up to S.F. and across the Golden Gate and then up into the edges of the wine country for the day. If anybody has further questions I can address them privately at my email liste above. Hope to see everyone one more time this year?

Re: Nor Cal Meet

Just to let everyone know since posting my information eariler today, I've talked with Tom Dowd and he is busy the 17th. So if he is going to make this event, the date will have to change. Or we might just do it on the 17th and Tom won't be able to join us. If a later date in Septemeber works better for those interested in joining this event. Please let me ASAP.

Re: Nor Cal Meet

Everyone, here are other possible dates being considered for the Santa Rosa Event which are open for Tom.

September 10th,
October 1st
October 15th
October 22nd

Any later in the year and we more than likely will not have the weather on our sides. That is is if we want it to be dry? Rain would make for allot less prep work with my Sy before heading up to Santa Rosa

Re: Nor Cal Meet

Any of those days would be okay with me. I'm almost done moving, so the further in the future the better. It really would be a shame to leave Tom out.

Re: Nor Cal Meet

OK folks,

Final date, based on Tom’s schedule.

The Santa Rosa meet is scheduled for October 22. Yes I know that gas is $3.00 for regular due to the New Orleans disaster but hopefully that will moderate somewhat by then. Besides getting together, the highlight, as mentioned, will be our visit to Stoke’s Ranch. Bring your camera and be prepared to smile as you visit with this amazing fellow and his “ranch”. Although flexible, the scheduled time for our visit is early afternoon . We can do lunch either before or after our tour.

For directions do Map Quest or whatever to 506 Tunney Pl. Santa Rosa, Ca. My home is actually a few miles north of Santa Rosa so if you have any questions you can post them here or email to sytruck@sonic.net

Re: Nor Cal Meet DATE CHANGE

Hi Everyone who has been adding to this thread since it began. Since we have not heard any updates from some of you in awhile Don, Tom and myself have figured it was only going to be the three of us. Since it wasn't shaping into much of a SyTy affair we have changed the way weare looking at the event.

Tom and I have booked rooms in Santa Rosa at the Courtyard Marriot. Our wives are also coming and with Don's help we are looking into doing other things in the area after we tour Stokes Ranch which I'm assuming isn't going to take awhole lot of time, like the entire afternoon.

Also Tom and I are heading out of San Jose around 9am so the wives are not rushed, plus Tom will have his son Mitch to consider also. I suggested to Tom since this really isn't shaping up to be any "REAL SYTY" event? Maybe we should leave our trucks at home and bring our other "rides" which are more frugal on a gallon of gas? Considering since it cost me $43 to fill the wifes ride (Saturn Vue Redline) with mid-grade last Monday.

Hopefully some of you will read this and step up to the plate with your thoughts and plans towards this event? I sent out emails to everyone on the bay area owners list and I only heard from two owners and they both said they couldn't come. This is why we have change the direction of this event to being just Tom, myself and Don as the only owners participating.

Hope to see some more feedback on this thread in the coming days before the 22nd of this month?

Re: Nor Cal Meet DATE CHANGE

This is kind of off topic but is this the same ranch that has the "Hot Rod Willeys?" As a kid living in ukiah, I went to a place between windsor and santa rosa to see a house and garage full of car stuff. I remember seeing his garage full of bicycle parts and house full of automobile memorabilia but the pictures don't match what I remember. I dont remember the road so close to the house but I do remember a ton of oil cans there :dunno:

He does have the worlds largest oil can collection. Also there is a large colection of old farm equipment surounding the property. And some other stuff. The main "attraction" is this fellow builds hot rods. You kinda have to see it. Also an old gas station. Just a cool place to visit.

Due to cancellations by both Mike and Tom I've chosen to cancell this event. Sorry for any inconvenience.
