Nitrous: who has tried/used/uses it? Results?

I'm curious as to who has succesfully and unsuccessfully used nitrous on our V6s. I know a few who have blown up their motors due to haphazardly shooting nitrous and not carefully tuning around it. But i don't know the details of what went wrong, what failed.

Nitrous has been the forbidden fruit around here..and i think it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to it so that people can understand the what/why/why not's involved with it...instead of having to search for individual attempts/stories scattered throughout the forum.

so...who has or is still using it. What kind of shot, and what kind of results? Good and bad? If you blew your motor while using it...what exactly went?

I didn't know Robert did it. Seems a lot of people talk about adding it for quick spool up. Syclone22 claims to have nitrous on one of his trucks - not sure if it's on a Syclone though. :dunno:

I remember at Nats Robert said he used a small shot but it didn't seem to make a noticable difference. Just reading through article inremember the swedes saying that the 96# injectors were maxed out so that may have been a contributing factor.

Waller sent his intake to NOS back in 1999 and had them plumb it for direct port (20# pills IIRC). We weren't good enough at tuning back then to get it dialed in, but it did pop a head gasket at Great Bend. Never made a good pass with it, but the stars aligned once when we were playing around with it and when it came on, it pulled like mad. 3 seconds later, it popped and farted and he let out.

i thought it was a waller pic...still haven't found it. Which he did he pop, do you recall? Was it the same both times?

I have a pic of the stealth one....OG ChiTown member IIRC.

Waller's popped the d-side gasket at GB.

There is some serious ingenuity going into those setups! Great pics guys - very interesting.

Yup Ivan did that setup. I remember testing it with him on the bench I believe. Never used in the truck, as that was going in his Marlboro white Syclone that was supposed to get the motor that someone was building in Rockford...

I think I remember Phil Long ran a small shot on his. Made his best pass with it, but it popped shortly thereafter.

Bully had a tank in his truck. I think an OG from FL did also years ago but I forget who. I would consider it, but you had better get your tune dead nuts. Also, not really needed with a good combo. Might net you better 60'.
