New ty guy

Just bought a ty "red" from indy. This truck was suppost to be all stock with 55k miles. I drove it all the way to south texas thru the floods of tenn. The truck runs good at part throttle yet lazy at wot. I've done a minor tune up. Plugs,wires,cap, rotor, fuel filter this made a difference. I changed several bad vacuum hoses. Vacuum is 18-19" at idle. I think the fuel pump is going out. I read the powertune site this was very helpfull. I want to run low 12s.

Yep get it running good. Make sure you get datamaster http://www.ttspowersystems.com/DataMaster_downloads2.html. If you can log 13's in the 1/4 mile then you have a good running truck and you can start upgrading. All you should need are 50# injectors, fuel pump, bigger turbo and a custom tune and you will have 12s no problem.

Is 18-19" of vac normal? Also what should the fp be at idle. I also noticed the cat had been removed from the exhaust is this good? I'm just trying to learn a new engine. I have some experience with turbo engines just not efi. My 93 tt prostreet lightning 446ci, 2 67mm gts,blow thru carb ,11#s of boost= 762rwhp:woot:

Not having a cat on a SyTy is dangerous. The change in backpressure can cause the wastegate to malfunction and overboost the engine.

Fuel pressure should be ~42 psi at idle. The Search function is very helpful at finding info like this.

18 to 19 at idle is normal. Yeah as far as the cat being removed. Mine was removed and I didnt have any issues. I would get a different turbo anyways and externally gate it if your goals are low 12s. With the stock turbo 12.5 is all the further the average joe reaches.

Mike Green's brother blew up his Syclone with very minimal mods, but I know that he was running with no cat. It may or may not have contributed to the Kaboom....:2cents:

If you run with no cat, the waste gate rod needs adjusting. ask me how i know :roll:

thanks to everyone, Is the stock turbo good? I was thinking about changing injectors to 50s on the stock engine. anyone have a tune for this.

I've had many stock turbo, stock injector trucks in the 12s.

I've also seen many go down the road of numerous upgrades and end up with something slower than stock.

Simple is good, sometimes.

hey post a pic of your ty please
