New Syclone Maybe

Re: New Syclone Maybe

GM invented the Raptor market (e.g., ZR2) and then let it die. They did the same with the SyTy and then let it die as well. Day late and a dollar short every time (i.e., PT Cruiser owns the market then GM builds a HHR - dumbasses)

The thing that kills me about GM is their shear ignorance to what some of its best supporters want. I don't think anyone will argue with this but here goes, I honestly believe that the SBC platform (most particularly the 350) is the most performance driven engine ever. There is a huge aftermarket, almost every hot rodder out there has or does mess with them and people put them in everything.

I really think that GM used to market more towards the working class and the everyday guy but not so much anymore. A new Silverado can easily be 1/3 the price of a nice house! Plus if you look at all the things that Dodge and Ford are doing with marketing, sales, performance and pricing it really makes me wonder how the hell GM expects to turn a profit. I see new Chargers and Mustangs everywhere and yes there are a good number of Camaros too but not nearly as many as the others.

I don't know, I just think GM is so stuck on stupid they are missing the big picture. I also think their cars are overpriced for what you get and I hate to admit this because I am a bowtie guy to the end but if I was to buy a new vehicle it would probably be a Ford or a Dodge because GM just doesn't have much to offer. Rant complete.

There were some brightspots in GM's past, but they are now history. For years I only bought GM, now my daily drivers are Fords ...

More GM misteps:

Keeping Buick and killing Pontiac...

Chevy Volt...

Hummer...

Saturn...

GM Design - (do they really believe people like this krap?)

Gov't takeover...

New Silverado...really???

SyTy's are dead, leave them dead.

Nobody can come up with an original idea these days. Movie re-makes are terrible. Our muscle cars are all throwback designs. They revamped the C7 into an epic fail. :2cents:

The same person designed both the PT Cruiser AND the HHR.

Re: New Syclone Maybe

i think that after the Syclone experience and the horrible SSR efforts, GM will (should) stay away from the hi-po small pick-up market.

Unless they put an LS9 into a Colorado-based, beefed up truck.

Look at the original purchase price for a Syclone or Typhoon. These would easily be in that 60-70K price range in today's dollars. I know when I graduated High School I really wanted a Sy, but ended up with a 4cyl/5speed S-10 at 1/3 the price of the Sy. GM's specil project vehicles have never been cheap (only cheaply made :rotf:). If...if GM decides to jump back into the performance truck market (what a miss with the Silverado SS) I would expect it to match or exceed the price of the Raptor (the truck not the $185M Fighter Plane).
