Re: New Syclone Maybe
SyTy's are dead, leave them dead.
Nobody can come up with an original idea these days. Movie re-makes are terrible. Our muscle cars are all throwback designs. They revamped the C7 into an epic fail. :2cents:
This. I've said this before in reference to someone on Jalopnik saying GM should bring the Holden HSV GTS (Think G8 with LS9):
"Would you buy one today? Would you buy a reservation, sight unseen? I hate to say it, but "we" always say that if they build it, we'd buy it. They do, then we don't. That's how we killed Pontiac. The only thing keeping GM in the black? The Chinese and their love for Buicks and Cadillacs."
People wanted fast touring coupes: Pontiac brought forth the lovely GTO; everyone complained that it wasn't "retro" enough (even though it followed the same idea that John Delorean had).
Everyone bitched when GM ditched the electric car; GM came out with the vastly superior Volt... and we all complain it's too expensive (248 MPG?!!?!?)
People told Cadillac they wanted a sport wagon; GM made the CTS-V Sport Wagon (and they only accounted for %0.5 of sales). Never mind that many magazines consider this one of the best things GM has done in ages.
GM needs leaders. GM needs volume. GM needs more world-class products (see Holden). Then... then GM can start ****ing around (Like Ford and the Raptor, Boss 302 Laguna Seca). GM also needs to smack it's dick into the dealership networks... they made leaps when they said that stores needed to be modern, and no selling used cars on new lots. GM needs to tell the dealer: no more dealer "options" or "market adjustments". You're killing yourselves in front of customers when you do that.
Until GM gets sorted out, the niches are going to have to be filled on profitable "halo" cars (CTS-V and Corvette come to mind). No Grand Nationals, SS Blazers, Syclones or Typhoons. We used to be the country that ruled the world when it came to autos... then we got lazy.
