New owner here. Honolulu, HI and I have a few questions right now.

I'm looking for the window seal molds and door seal molds. Ebay says they're not compatible with the syclone, but someone told me that all S-10 trucks of that year used the same parts.
Who is telling the truth and who is the liar?
This is what I'm looking at.

Door Window Channel Seal
Door Weatherstrip Seal

Nice to meet everyone :)

I did check there, but its like double the price.
I'm wondering more about the S-10 thing. Is that true or false?

Welcome!

Pretty sure the seals are interchangeable between base S10's and Syclones...however...

You have a Syclone and should consider higher-end, quality pieces because if you buy cheap, Chinese knock-offs...the fitment may not be right and the quality most certainly will suffer.

Plus, supporting our vendors (by shopping with them) ensures that they will continue to make and supply parts for us.

That said, I know that money is sometimes the deciding factor...and fully understand that. But it's almost worth saving for quality parts rather than compromise. In the long run, this will help preserve the truck.

Disclaimer: Having never ordered/used seals from Sportmachines, I am only assuming these particular pieces are closer to OEM than ebay or LMC parts.

you get what you pay for. Ive seen guys on FB in the S-10 groups say the eBay junk (as well as LMC) fits like shit and they crack, fade or get brittle within a year.

Buy them if you want, but youre just throwing money away, youll be buying the Sportmachines ones at some point down the road. :2cents:

The Sportmachines ones are made in house? They're not just bought from a retailer and they resell them on their site?

If you know they are made in house custom to fit, please say so. I don't want a "I think" or "I heard they are."

Who cares if the quality is better?

This vendor is an important part of our little community and would not sell something that doesn't fit or wasn't quality.

Maybe I should explain a little first.
I'm 25 and live in Hawaii. Economy is terrible, jobs don't pay well and cost of living is really high.
So the cost of things matter greatly to me.
I do prefer to support small businesses over large corporations, but when the cost difference is double then, for me, its an easy choice.
Shipping is another matter as well. Shipping to Hawaii is usually double and a lot of businesses say "no shipping to Hawaii/Alaska" so my choices are again limited.

So again, I'm not trying to deal bad business this is just the situation of my life that I am in.
A gallon of milk costs about $9 here. So I never buy milk.

I bought the LMC ones and they were crap. I bought the Sportmachines ones and they are much better.

I live in the UK and shipping here SUCKS. Plus, we have ridiculous taxes once it all gets here. I would recommend the SM parts. Save shipping twice and erase doubt from your mind. There are plenty of other ways to save money on your truck - like keeping it stock.

Welcome, congrats and good luck!

Tell us more on your truck, wasn't that Hawaii barn find was it? :rotf:.. Just kidding.. Would be cool if it was.

I'm sure some one can work something out for you with the window rubber with USPS shipping.

Ho cuz, Mahalo!

Go with the Sportmachines. Yes, they are pricey, but Tom (the owner of SM) is an avid truck owner and enthusiast and REFUSES to sell anything that he cannot 100% stand behind. His level of quality and standards for the parts he sells is very high.

Welcome to the group.

We have some other 808s on the forum here, Im surprised they haven't chimed in yet. "V" is the biggest haole boy of them all though. He's like the SyTy version of Da Hui and likes to give deerty lickenz on da haole states here.

Howzit and welcome to the board.

You bought the Palisades Sy?? I saw that truck on the road just before it went on sale.

The window channel and weatherstrip is the same as S-10. You'll waste your money buying the cheap stuff. You might be able to save money on shipping by combining your order with the other guys in the 808. That's what I do.

I never said that, I'm sure they don't sit there and stamp them out, so no. They are purchased from a supplier somewhere, I know when they were trying to find some that were worthy of putting on our trucks, they went through what seemed to be a dozen different suppliers/manufactures before offering them for sale.

Who that manufacture is, I have no idea but they are a close to OEM as you are going to find today. Nobody is forcing you to buy them, just giving honest opinions. If you want to cheap out and buy the chinese shit from eBay by all means go right ahead, don't say didn't warn you. Good luck with whatever you end up purchasing.

Here's a post in my DesertSy thread regarding window run channels. The one on the drivers side has been problematic. The glass comes out of the channel, and If I don't notice it and snap it back in, I have to remove the door panel and fix it. I don't know if Tom's run channels are better, I've never used them. But they can't be worse.

The inner and outer glass felts are fussy as hell to change. Warren and I discuss them in the same thread, a few days later.

Good luck with the new truck. Mahalo.

And an "Aloha HARD" to V.

Ok, maybe I should just hold out on the window channel seal stuff.

I do need a few other things worked on. I'm going to go by kaimuki auto and see what they would price me at.
