Howdy, my name is Nick. I am possibly going to be picking up a black 93 ty. I have loved these trucks since my first taste when I was 16 and almost picked up a high mileage one. Anyhoo I found this 93 with 78,000 miles for $9k. If there is any basic stuff I should look for let me know. I made sure that the trans was ok, it shifted hard into 2nd. I am going to try and borro the truck for a day and take it to my buddies shop and have him look it over (a big GN guy and knows quite a bit about sy/ty's). I will keep you guys posted if I pick it up.

My stable consits of two 2004 Subaru WRX STi's and a 1987 Grand National. One STi is blue and the other is white. Unfortunatly I rolled the white one at 80mph last summer and am parting it out. I loved this car and had over $15k into it. 4 weeks ago I picked up the blue STi and it has over $20k into it. The GN is getting a major overhaul from the profits off of parting out the white STi. In it's current condition I have about $12-13k into it.

dang man, sounds like u are going to fit right in. Crashed cars, part outs, the love for BOOST. GL on your ty if you get it, and sorry to hear about the sti..Welcome to the boards man, hope to see you around.

welcome to the board; its cool to see folks come with different cars like turbo buicks and the STI's. The vehicles are all so different, and have their own personalities. We hope you make out well with the white '93......

what do you have left for sale from the STi? There are about 8-10 syty owners w/ STis on here...

I have alot left from the STi, I havn't put a post on NASIOC with the parts for sale yet.
I am gonna pick up the Ty today and run it to my buddies shop and have it checked out.

glad to see you made it home in the new car and it didn't end up like your old one. I bet that snow and ice was fun a road race tires.

ya I know who and where you got your STI, nice car, I turned a few wrenchs on it myself.

ya never know, the last thing I did was remove about 5 bolts, hope my buddy put them back in . :)

jwaller, thats cool you worked on the car. Whom ever was in charge of jacking it up needs to go back to jacking a car up 101. The front subframe is destroyed from being used as a jacking point. Luckily I have another one laying around.

Onto this Ty, you guys are not gonna like this....
Well I took the ty to my buddy's place (ASE certified and knows sy/tys) and he says the engine is sh1t, bad blow by and valvetrain noise. Told me not to buy it. So I am driving back to the dealer on the highway and call up the dealer, tell them what he said, whatever and I will be back to drop off the truck. 5 miniutes later the check gauges light goes on and I hear cla-thunk, reeks of oil, and smoke out the back. I shut off the motor and coast off the side of the road. Pop the hood and there is oil everywhere. I call up the dealer and tell them that the motor is toast and I need a wrecker. They call one up, 1.5 hours later he shows up, then we continue the hour drive back to the dealer (imagine your hand, the truck broke down in the middle of it and I had to go all the way to the outside of it). This takes my hour drive turned into a 3 hour event and I lost the possibility to go x-mass shopping for my fiancee. Get to the dealer and I tell the guy that I am not interested in the broken ty. He then asks me if I would be interested if it was cheaper. The fokin truck broke down on me on the highway and dosn't have a working motor. Why the h3ll would I want a broken truck that has obviously had the sh1t beat out of it?

There aren't too many SyTys in that area, much less ones that are for sale. Go to Curless Auto Repair Service on La Grave St. downtown. They have a black/black '92 Ty in their showroom. I never got a chance to check it out while they were open, so I'm not sure what they're doing to it, but it looked like the engine was out when I saw it.

hey dont know what the hell your talking about on the jacking up. jwaller is my good friend we have worked on the car together. I think we both know what where doing.
