New Big Gun! 10.71 124mph Video/Timeslip

I didn't want to announce that I was heading back to the Track this year, because I wanted it to be a suprise. Being that my Best last year was 11.22 @ 121, I wanted to get into the 10's. That's all I wanted was the BIG GUN status. After doing numerous Email Tunes with Rob after work, we finally got it to the point where it was ready for the Track. It felt quicker than last year, but you just never know what will happen.

Compared to last years setup, I went from a 63mm to a 72mm Turbo, A/C Delete, and Electric Fans. I was nervous about pushing the Ty this far especially with 104,500 miles and STOCK BOTTOM END. But I'm confident in the truck and effort it takes to run 10's. My Dad and buddy Rich spent a lot time this Summer getting it ready and doing little things that make a big difference such as the ECM Power mod, Switch for my Fans, Exhaust work.

Trying to keep this short but the Main part of this Truck running 10's is, my Dad was the original owner and never beat on the thing. Here and there got into boost but nothing crazy. Never raced it which is a good reason why this Engine has lasted as long as it has. I'm very proud of my Typhoon and thankful my Dad handed this thing down to me to make him proud as well. and can finally say I own a 10 Second truck thats street driven and Stock Bottom end.

ENJOY!!! You can see my Dad on the Left cheering on! Open the Video in Youtube and hit Full screen and HD

Congratulations Sean, that is very impressive. I didn't even think 10.7 was possible with Typhoon and a stock bottom end.

My favourite part of all this is the stock bottom end. It shows how wrong people are about the pistons letting go. It's all in the tune.

Looks like code59 can do the job! Excellent work Sean and the rest of Team Krupa.

Congrats Sean, that is a great accomplishment.

I think you are now seeing better numbers coming from stock bottom ends due to better turbo technology and MUCH better cam specs. Also, I assume Sean's tune is spot on.

Did they give you a hard time at the track about safety equipment?

One doing it doesn't show how "wrong" people are. When you have say 10 or more trucks doing it, then maybe you can say that. Every truck, every engine, every tune is going to be a little different. Its not just the pistons at that power level, its the entire bottom end. Rods, Crank, Block, all of it are generally though or known to be past their "stock" limit at that point, but he's doing it.

EDIT: when I say crank, really just referencing 2bolt mains.

That is amazing and it will be interesting to see how much more HP it can handle. Or just how long it can handle that level. Way to go man.

Very glad to see of the love and effort you've poured into your family heirloom rewarded with a 10 second slip. Your hunger for knowledge, hands on approach, and quest for the BG status is what it takes to achieve this accomplishment. As I've said many times when we're working on my Ty....."you keep me motivated to get more of my parts off the shelves and on the truck". Your work on this Ty has been well documented, but can you elaborate on what exactly was going on yesterday: level of boost, launch RPM, meth %.....or anything. Again I say congrats, I'm happy for you and proud too. Not many 45 year old dudes can hang with a man 1/2 their age and have something to share an interest. I'm glad we meet at the Rolling Meadows show, hell back when you were only 16...right? And also happy to have your devoted help and friendship. Now with all that said, dial it back a bit until you can build a stronger bottom end.
