Need Help in Poland

Hey All,

At the meet in Zurich I bumped into an individual that has found a Syclone sitting at a mechanic's garage for the last 5 years.

Apparently the truck was dropped off for work and the guy never came back no name no phone # nothing. I'm wondering if a US title could be applied for it to show that it's not stolen...maybe a found on property kind of thing.

Here is the e-mail I received. Any recommendations?

Okay I've already been PM'd that the VIN makes it look like it's not a Syclone. Is this true? The current "posessor" says the VIN tells him it's a Sonoma (T-15 Incomplete?)

What is your opinion?

All syty's i have done research on via carfax come back as a t-15 incomplete.

I am by far not a VIN expert, but that gives me a first clue it probably is a sy.

Who else would buy a incomplete s-15, besides PAS? (I know it was paper transfer)

In general the VIN for all Syclones is 1GDCT14ZXM880xxxx where xxxx is the four digit series number ranging from 0001 to
2998. Saudi models have non-consecutive series numbers within the range indicating that the vehicles were either randomly chosen or built as and when requirements needed.

I don't want to get flamed here, but getting a car especially from Poland COULD be an issue since a lot of cars from all over Europe "disappeared" to Poland. It's the number one "market-location" for trading with stolen cars. Basically you wont know what it is until you have seen it and you have to have the knowledge where-else the VIN number is hidden at the car.
There are known cases that cars from Poland have been found in Germany carrying three different VIN numbers due to major swaps between cars. My advice is "Be careful"
For a legal Export you need most common legal Poland papers (money could fix this --> referring to my above sentence). I have no knowledge if the US DMV is issuing a title without the car and be aware of import fees and taxes to the European Community and Switzerland.

You should also look around for import regulations. Poland is not part of the EU so far. For example you can't import a Sy into Hungary, becaues it's more than seven years old. You can import it as a part vehicle but you will never get a title for it.

Also would be nice to check if it's stollen or not. You can do this with the help of someone Polish. They should have a flag in their databases if it's stollen. In Hungary you can even check this via the internet... I can't imagine someone leaving a Sy at a shop for whatever reason. Either it's stollen or the owner died/went to jail after the drop. Which one is more likely? :-?

I guess I need to elaborate that I'm not going to buy this truck. That I am just trying to help a fellow SyTy'r I met at the Zurich meet.

I'm thinking with our heads combined we could figure this out.

and what is the problem?
there are always certain ways to make stuff happen.

i have a car wich they thought was stolen, (it was worth 3000$ when i got it)
and did a complete rebuild, and when i got to the check-up they couldn't find the VIN plate.
Bought it new and let the number made on it.
ofcourse modern cars are more difficult because of all the vind.
But SIGO, you have one already, give them the same numbers.
That saves GOOD bucks on ensurance and TAXES

if the engine is real, and the cladding look fine and the interior is Okay.
and it has good 4wd.
2000 ain't that much.

But this raises an interesting question then. If the truck carries a 2wd VIN, is the truck really AWD? Becuase to me swapping over front clips seems like a lot of work for a SyTy swap. I've directed the guy to check this topic. Maybe the truck deserves closer inspection for other VIN locations.

@All;

OK guys without telling too much about some mad practices with stolen or modified cars .. NO I AM NOT IN THIS BUSINESS!!!!
Common is:
- Mistakes are TYPOS in the VIN number.
(Lars had major problems to register his truck due to this fact).
- "Converted" by VIN change to a "cheaper" model to save some tax
- "Swapped" VIN plate .. for the above reason.
- Worst case swapped frame parts because the car was stolen to make it legal again

It's a common practice, in some Eastern European countries even kind off legal, that a stolen car is put on a lot. If no one claims rights on it for 1 year it can be sold by the police and a new title is issued. There wont be ANY mark or notification that this is a salvage title!!! Poland is the "forwarding state" for stolen cars in Europe. The business is driven by corruption, so without a REAL VIN no investigation/verification can be even started.

My advice:
1. I would be very careful
2. If one in the board can tell where else the VIN number is located (hidden spots) and can check the truck... we all know more.

What do I know about this truck?
Yes, I know about it for over a year. It's sitting outside in the elements without any window installed. Interior MUST be toast any other conditions are unknown - not enough for me to make it attractive - regardless the price.
I don't have a good contact in Poland and tried already to email a Polish Typhoon owner I had contact with almost 2 years ago - unfortunately no response... .

Wrong ask Ian (I think...) They ran up against a turbo 4.3 Silverado @ the track..w/ turbo on driver's side.

i would like to have a Syclone, than build a V8 in it.....
Just kidding, i really want to have a syclone, because it''s way cheaper to drive (bussines car)
