Naked Truck Measurements

I knew if I put naked in the subject that everyone would look.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to hang my door cladding but I need someone to take some accurate measurements for me of where I need to place these discs that get riveted to the door.

I looked at the supplement manual and GM used a fixture that positioned itself off of the body line. I figured that since they used that as reference that I probably should to. I need measurements from the EXACT center of the body-line to the EXACT center of the rivet for each disc. I also need the measurement from the back of the door to the center of each rivet. If someone could get this info for me that would be awesome..

I created this picture so if you could just give me a value to go with each letter that would be great..

Re: Naked Truck Measurements

I don't have door measurements but may be able to help with other locations as my Ty sits without cladding in my garage

Thanks for the offer. I will need the measurements for the rear corner discs as well.. I'll put arrows on another picture and post it up today or tomorrow.

EDIT: Here is the pic:

Re: Naked Truck Measurements

I love the suggestions. I'm trying my best to make my back lip/bar 100% match the location of the stock lip. I'd like my cladding to interchange with the stock parts without having to adjust the height of the discs. Take a look at this pic. I used a stock part to build my fixture(the white metal) that gets bolted to my mold. That same fixture will then be used to build the lip on my fiberglass part. It should match up pretty damn close..

I will certainly place the pucks in my part and take measurements before I put holes in the truck. I also think starting with the two discs on either end is a great idea. Once I get them 100% snapping a line between them will work perfectly.

I'd love a 2nd set of measurements. I'd hate to drill holes in my truck in the wrong location even though they will be covered up..

Seeing you're making custom cladding, the PAS location for the pucks may not be correct for your custom cladding. It depends on where the 'bar' that hangs on the pucks is located in relationship to the top line of the cladding.

The fore-aft spacing isn't critical, but the height is. I would suggest 'reverse engineering' the height for the pucks. Test fit your cladding, and scribe the "best fit" line at the top of the piece on a piece of masking tape on the body. Turn the cladding over, and place the pucks in the piece. Measure from the rivet hole in the puck to the top of the cladding. Transfer this measurement to the truck, and compare the placement to the 'stock PAS' dimensions above.

You want the pucks slightly 'high' so the bottom of the door piece fits over the lower "L's" snugly. Same with the 1/4's.

For the doors, I'd get the front and rear pucks where I want them height wise, then snap a line between the two ends and put the intermediate pucks on that line. (Assuming your 'bar' on the cladding is straight as well). I use plastic push-pin rivets for test fitting. When I'm done with the testing, I use aluminum rivets for the final install. I don't trust plastics to hold valuable cladding, especially if it gathers road-ice. I drive my trucks in all weather.

I have a Syclone with all stock pucks and L's still installed, but the cladding is under my bed. If you want a second set of dimensions, I'll go next door tomorrow and get them. That truck is in my neighbor's garage.

Incredible project. I'm impressed. Hope you don't mind the suggestions.

Awesome.. Very close to the ones posted above. Thanks for the confirmation.. I've got the truck marked out and I'm almost ready to drill it..
