Make them Handle?

I guess this question is for the autocross guys. Can you make Sy handle well? and If so with what upgrades? If so, how does it handle? Like a STi?

I am wondering.....

You can make anything handle. It just depends on how much time, effort, and cash you want to spend.

I would imagine coilovers in the front and 4-link rear would be a good place to start. Being as old as they are, SyTy's are really only limited by your budget.

Member HighPerformacneTrucks is building a road racing Syclone. He could probably give you a lot of insight on what it takes to make them handle.

i would say full coilovers, sway bars, and some good tires

I think your being optimistic that it will handle like STi (or Corvete, Evo etc.) without some major work done. (ie reinforcing frame, new front/rear suspensions and mounting points.)

Maybe I am trying for the moon after only building and bottle rocket.... but I guess I wanted to see what was possible or what has been done before.

I be honest I have really been discouraged about my Syclone over the past few months. I was thinking/looking to sell it and start a new all around fun project. Fast Drag, great around twisty and just fun to drive, but I thought If I could build the clone into a new animal I'd like it again......

an sti is an all out rally car, i think with coilovers, sway bars, will bring back the handling feel enough deffiantly , it probally wont be an sti, but what the hell is haha, i would try all that and i think youll notice a huge differnce

In case you dont see the post, better than 350z's, cayman S, Evos, Sti's, vetts... With the usual mods now days. Nothing to crazy cost wise. Check it out, awaiting pics

You can change the steering box as well to give you a tighter ratio - ZQ8 is what it is called but do your research as they can have different internal gears.

Do you guys know anything about the Rear Coilovers? I havent seen that done....

just installed a pep on tytanic, built/designed my own triangulated 4 link, did one on a sy also. Been done a few times its not easy or a bolt in operation though.

Just adding the coilovers to the stock leafs makes a huge difference. I have the J+S front setup and just did the rears until i could do me three link, and was very suprised how much better it handles, but my truck is low with 285/35/19 front and rear.

Yeah if you want to make the rear handle, just get the QA1 rear coilovers, and a 4-link, or some sort of link setup done properly that's my plan
