Hi everyone. I just joined the site. I don't have have a GMC yet, but it is in the back of my head. I have been and still am (OK, let the fun begin and the sarcasm start) a Mustang guy. Especially fox body Stangs. I have had 9 of them and just got in a little trouble with my latest. It's fully built with a Vortech S trim pushing 14 pounds of boost. It's almost too fast to have fun with on the street- can't believe I just said that. So, I thought I come over to the GMC side and slow it down a little- ha ha ha. I'm just going to browse the site, see what types of mods you are all doing and maybe pick up a Sy/ Ty in the spring. How hard is it to get these rigs into the mid 12 range? I'm probably leaning towards a Ty due to having young boys.

The Sportmachine recipe's are a little dated (some of the recommended parts are discontinued), but overall they are the right idea. One of the big key is to get these truck running good with a clean scan tool run.
The Stock turbo setup with race gas or Xylene will run mid 12's with a good running Sylone on cool, Typhoon are .4 behind. With alky and tuning you can get the same result. If you get into more advanced tuning by doing your own with code $59, you should be able to better those numbers. However to get a Typhoon to run mid 12's in the middle of the summer will probably require a larger Turbo. Searching on this forum will give you plently of ideas and pitfall to look for in a buying a SyTy.
Also you might find that AWD SyTy makes a better street vehicle in terms of having fun on the street, because 1 and 2nd gears aren't useless compared to high powered RWD vehicle.

Dave, you're absolutely right about the RWD on high hp cars. My tires break loose doin 55mph. Kinda scares the shit out of ya. I can't imagine driving something like a Syclone that launches like you're shot out of a slingshot! Gotta be a blast.

I've owned three fox bodies (90, 91 and 91) and have modified all of them.. the 90 had a paxton novi 2k kit on it with all the normal bolt ons.. was a fun fun car, one 91 had a vortech s trim also and I can speak from experience.. coming from such a violent power band like my mustangs and going to sytys with there smoother power band is different kinds of fast all together and it's not hard to crack the 12s with these trucks.. a good running sy will run 13.0 to 13.5s all day and a good running ty is a little slower due to the added 400 lbs.
