Left my interior lights on overnight......

Yup. I did it again. Left my interior lights on overnight. Last time i did that, my battery died. I guess i didnt learn my lesson.

But thanks to the LED interior light upgrade, she fired right up!! I didnt even realize the lights were on until they didnt shut off after startup. Mind you this is 10 hours of staying on. Last time with the factory bulbs it was about 11 hours and battery was completely dead (new battery too). Had about 2volts.

I'm just glad i did the upgrade. Sooo much brighter and barely uses any power. One less thing i "need" to worry about.

Pretty cool. I just replaced my replaced my battery (it was killed by the lights and for some reason, would not take a charge) due to leaving the interior lights on. With pro-rated charge (bought it in 2010), it was $27.

For the record, NAPA batteries buh-LOW!

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

so it was just a bulb upgrade...or actually wiring?

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

We did this in my buddies house (changed all ten of 65 watt flood lights out for 13 watt LED flood lights) and saw a dramatic decrease in the electric bill.

All switched the lights over to dimmable ones because unlike incandescent lights that when they are dimmed to half they use 50% electricity, LED's actually use less than 50% when dimmed to half.

Nice. I did the dome light - but I haven't done the ones down by your feet. Did you do both?

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

i did just bulbs. not even sure how or why you would do wiring as well. i did all the interior bulbs. dome light, cargo light, map lights, mirror lights and foot lights. I wish someone made clear dome light lens's. that opaque white lens kills the light output.

hardest part was re-curving the bulb holders to grab the LED 211/212's in the mirror and getting them in there straight. a gentle touch and some needle nosed pliers did the trick.

Any parts list? Where did you get all the LEDs?

I also wish someone made a dome light cover that looked a little newer. clear would be much better

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

hatrik,

i got all my lights from eBay. cheap china stuff. works great though. the 194 LED's i got for the map lights were a little too big for the socket but some massaging with a dremel made her fit.

from Sean Krupa's old post (how i figured it out):
-Shift Indicator #194 (2)
-License plate #194 (2)
-Instrument cluster #PC194 (6)
-Dome lamp #211-2 39x10mm festoon (2) front+rear
-Map light #194 (2)
-Rear view mirror #212-2 39x10mm (2)
-Step/Courtesy light #67 (2)

the 211 and 212 are basically the same bulb. the rear cargo dome light has a narrow housing so dont go crazy and get the 150 LED panel for that. it wont fit. i would suggest something that is not much bigger than the factory glass bulb in dimension for all except the main dome light.

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

i saw those on LMC. but no one makes the main dome light lens in clear. only the rear. and $25 is hardly worth the cost for the rear.

Hogan, how did you get the map ones out? Seemed like the whole thing broke apart on me...fitting the new LED in was a pita but the little copper tabs broke too. Also one of the rear view one blinks erratically. Any ideas?

Re: Left my interior lights on overnight......

If you disassemble the map light assembly (popping the lens out of the holder) you can fit the 5/6 LED 194 inside the housing. Simply attach the socket to the assembly, slide in the 194 bulb, pop in the lens and reattach to the mirror. Its fairly simple & straight forward and man do they light up that cab when they're on.

Are you saying you got the socket out with out dropping the overhead console? Because I seemed to have broke both sockets, or more correctly broke the housing so now the socket won't workright, had to tape them to hold in place.

Just use your thumb and first and middle fingers. Hold pressure on the lense and turn the assembly counter clockwise about a quarter turn. They're locked in like that.

Start looking for a newer dome light setup to swap in from a newer vehicle. Maybe even a short overhead console from an S10 or Blazer?
