Latest plug ideas

Got my plugs out, changing the cap and rotor, etc. Thought I'd pose the endless plug preference question. So at the risk of my getting my rear raked over the coals what plugs are in favor now? Tune is in sig but stock injs, stock turbo, and spraying meth under boost, usually 20-22lbs. Current plug is, or was :lol: , NGK iridium UR6IX. To look at them I'd say they were just a bit on the cold side. Center insulator is dark brown. Hard to tell exactly with that itty-bitty center electrode but gap is .028

UR5 is one step hotter
ix is the iridium.

NGK is still the best bang for the buck and QC standards for the money I think.

I'd still like to see someone run a set of those "field effect" plugs but I'm not paying 11.99 a piece for them.

I have run NGK UR5 and UR6s. The UR5 are stocked at the local "Fleet & Farm" hardware store $1.79/ea.. The UR6 I have to order from Summit. I have to be honest, I never noticed a difference with the UR6. If there was one, it was so slight I couldn't tell what it was.

I remember Mark Larson talking about burning up the plugs or something when he started running extraordinary amounts of alcohol in his 11.0/L35 Syclone years ago. I think he said alcohol likes a hotter plug?

So to test the theory I bought a set of UR4s but ended up swapping to Vortecs before I ever tried 'em. (Vortecs use TR5 plugs with long threads). Might be worth a try for someone to experiment with if you got $12 to throw away in the name of science.

Plug # is fixed, and yes those plugs would be interesting to try.
