Just installed A2A

Not so sure what I think about it. First off, it was a total PITA!! Never had something that barely fit together as bad as this. One of the brackets was torn on the driver side which made it worse right off the bat. My instincts told me to make a new one before I do anything. Ofcourse I told my instincts to shut up out of pure impatientness. So I hit a dip and ripped the bracket in half. The clamp got all screwed up and bent the outlet of the core. I bent it back pretty good though. I ended up with three pipes coming off (at different times ofcourse) and had to put all new T-bolts on them. So as of now, I thik I have a boost leak cause I have 17 PSI at WOT and after 2-3 seconds it goes down to 15. I played and played with the boost controller with no luck so tomorrow I plan on trying to make sure I get that outlet back to round and will put a t-bolt clamp on it as well, its the only one with out. I think that until I get it fixed and I know for sure everything is golden itld be too early to say if I think it makes a difference or not. Ill get it all squared away tomorrow and do some runs and see what the differences are. Anyone know if the WG trys to maove at all when its working? Im hoping the bracket I amde for it is acceptable.

Re: Just installed A2A

Why was it such a pita? was it the fact that piping wouldn't line up? Should have been plenty of room underneigh to mount up that core right? Now you need some meth injection :)

Re: Just installed A2A

It sucked for many reasons. First reclocking the turbo isnt the easiest of tasks I ahve learned. I had the hardest time getting the snap ring back in. Wasnt able to do it myself. I also wasnt able to find a deent pair of pliers for it. Then the tube going down from the turbo to the IC wasnt really bent in a way that was easy to get good fitment. The brackets that hold the IC to frame were pieces of crap and not even strong, made of thin aluminum. I had to make new ones. The pipe from the outlet to the upper ppipe looks like a tail pipe with no bead or anything to hold it together, justsmooth and also bent to wierd angles. All in all I just thought it sucked to put on. I like the room savings though.

While I certainlly believe that, I also believe that it definately doesnt hurt anything to ditch it either. My main thing is to have one less thing that leaks, one less pump to break, one less wiring issue, less engine bay clutter. :2cents: BTW, i need some help with that cable I bought from ya, can you PM me your #?

For one iced down pass at the track maybe. Drive around on the street for 1/2 hour then tell me how much more heat it removes than an air to air.

exactly why I switched plus it makes alot more room free under the hood

Well its getting better. I replaced a couple more clamps and am going to replace some reducer tonight and that should be it. I need to find a way to test for leaks. I saw you can buy a leak tester but dont want to wait for it so I may try and make something.

Good-old inner-tube test. Plug the end going into the intake. Apply the inner-tube valve where you exit the turbo. If everything is sealed, it should hold pressure. Listen for hiss.

A2A will benefit you alot with all the streetracing you do. Less time to cool down coolant temp and more time racing....one of the big factors on why I switched.
