Jumping in with both feet

Hi guys, Just wanted to say that I chanced upon a syclone this last week and picked it up. I started doing some recent research (I wanted one of these years ago) and found this site. I thoroughly enjoy the attitude and comaraderie I have seen on this site and feel I will be a good fit to your little corner of the internet.

About me: Driveability technician by trade. Labscopes, scan tools and the like are what I enjoy. Stuck in Air Quality nowadays though. I pretty much have no allegence to any make/model/genre of vehicles, although I thoroughly hate fart cans on imports. :screwy:

My rides:I am currently building a fuel injected/hybrid OD Early Bronco (put on the back burner so that I can build the Syclone), a fuel injected 56 Nash Metropolitan (for the wife) and once those are done, begin the restoration on my 66 Mustang fastback. Add a lifted Suzuki Samurai for playing, another 56 Nash driver (to keep my wife happy while I mod her other Nash) a Camry and a 4 runner and it all keeps me pretty busy

My Syclone: I'm going to post up my build I started this week, but I just purchased a Sy at an insurance auction. It had been hit in front, but missed the bumper and intercooler, leaving me replacing some bolt in sheetmetal and a door (at worst). The guy had quite a few mods and a new motor which I will be carefully checking out over the next couple weeks as I get ready to squirt some color on my new daily driver.

I've modded Turbo talons (4) and have dabbled a bit in aftermarket fuel management and have a bunch of experience in fuel injection and such, so once I get the proper software, I'll be seeing how bad the programming (reported to be modded) looks. Unfortunately around here we are blessed with 90 octane at best, so performance without race fuel or M/A injection is non-existant.

I'm a Sy newbie, so don't feel bad about giving me advice when you see fit.

It was auctioned at interior towing in Fairbanks. There was A LOT of interest in this vehicle. Like I stated, there must have been some misunderstanding on my bid. ;) My understanding is this one was from the Anchorage area. The previous owner bought it less than a year ago. It apparently was a 12.5 ET ride, but you know how that goes.

There are at least two up here. One is someone I know and the other is a friend of friend. There are going to be a couple of drag races this year, but not the 4 that they had hoped for, so I'll be down in Palmer a few times this year to get my Sy sorted out.

For now the sy is on hold for a few days while I take the Samurai out to the bus on stampede. I have purposely not watched "Into the Wild" so that I could watch it in the bus. :D

Scrolling down I obviously saw the picture first and the first thing that went through my head was "WTF DID THEY DO TO THAT SYCLONE???"

Re: Jumping in with both feet

Welcome! From the sound if it, you have some serious knowledge of a topic very few know about - I hope to get into more driveability as my career progresses  There is another member on here who goes by DaveP, he's in the same boat as you are as far as technical expertise. Again, great to hear about another new member, especially one in the last frontier!
