Inspired by the resurgence of this thread, stopped by the Walmart this morning after picking up my Subbie (head gaskets done. :roll:) in Sellersville and picked up two RENZ-mobiles! Didn't realize they were "murdered out". Nice! :tup:

I thought "murdered out" was black/black/black. Black everything. Wheels, windows, paint, everything.

Not black with gold rims :dunno:

So technical! Short of the wheels, this truck is murdered out with satin black paint...the wheels match the decals for a nice touch. :tup:

so I came across some unwrapped blk/blk trucks at a local store. They looked pretty beat and they wanted $6.00 for them. :roll:

However, one of the trucks had black headlights. Not missing headlights, but the headlights painted glossy black.

Tell me this is some rare version (ala "white lightning"), and I will go back to the store and buy it. ;)

black black are hard to find because they were the first ones released IIRC and were only sold bagged and tagged branded ertil though

the black/black ones were sold as Ertl branded, not JL. No package, jus a plastic baggy sometimes. And they had a clear plastic tie holding on a small Ertl tag. They were sold at places like Tractor Supply Co and a couple other stores.

pictured is the sportmachines version. Check the store to see if the door says sportmachines or not - curious to see if jl released any of them that way.

I'll check, but don't think they were sportmachines versions. I wish they would have kept them in the baggies because they are out and dirty, like kids have been walking by and playing with them on a dusty shelf. True - they are not JLs.

Well, technically there are, sort of. On the base, it does say Johnny Lightning...Ertl and JL are made by RC2. I have the cases that they came in and it has RC2 on the outside....with an Ertl tag and a JL base...go figure.

went to walmart and found 2 black tys with the gold wheels.. and then the loco policia ty.. i have them hidden but if anyone wants i can run back and pick them up
