Jesel timing belt drive

Re: Jesel timing belt drive

Yes, quite often the oil galley and cam retainer bosses will need to be machined to clear the Jesel cover, then you will find that the cam adapter does not fit the 4.3 cam and you will need to have a custom cam made with a standard SBC nose.... that will run at least $500 if not more. My billet Comp Cams custom grind was $1000. I would just put a Cloyes hex-a-just timing set on it and call it a day.....

Thanks for this info it is strange that the Jesel tech said
it was a V-6 engine bolt on unit with no machining when
i receive this i will posted a review soon !!!

P.S Camshaft is from Kenne bell not stock ...

Re: Jesel timing belt drive

I did the purchase at Jesel direct they charged me 900 US for the
complete belt drive and camshaft adapter for the V-6 camshaft !!

I am sure you will be getting the KBD31000. It is part number for the SBC and the 90* V6
This is because they were originly for SBC and also used for the Bowtie V6 blocks for circle racing. These blocks are like the SBC bowtie block and the cams used were the flat nosed style.

Yes, Jesel doesn't make an adapter for the factory 4.3 cam, just the SBC flat nose style used in Bowtie V6 motors as John has stated.

will bolt on to the 3 bolt and have a center bolt for the adjustable cam gear !!!

I guess you just don't want to listen..... I know Danny Jesel personally, I actually tested his prototype SBC belt drive many many years ago on my B/Dragster, they DO NOT offer a cam adapter to fit the 4.3 cam and they do not plan to offer one, it doesn't matter if you have a stock cam, a Kenne Bell cam, or any other factory style stepped nose cam, It will not work. I don't care what the Jesel rep told you.... it won't work !!!! You bought a $900 paper weight unless you want to spend more money on a custom cam :)

I agree with everyone here! If everyone is sayin "NO DONT DO IT, YOUR WASTEING YOUR TIME" i mean....... Personally i would listen, but hey thats just me. Honestly putting a timing belt on an engine that has no problem with a timing chain seems like a big waste of money to me. Think about it?! Once you do the cam then you have to do the lifters, since your there it only makes sence to do the push rods an rockers, then you have to tune it....... Just my opinion i would return it an get a double roller or even a stock chain does a great job. You should really listen to these guys, they know more than you would think!! An several of them have been down the path your getting ready to go down!! I end this post in the best of luck to you sir an really do hope this works out in your favor...... It would be a shame if it doesnt

When using a 50# ultimate chip while looking to do nitrous boost launches on a trans brake , a jesel belt drive is the last thing i would have recommended on any syty .

O.K guys thanks for all the great feedback i have been
using a double roller timing set since my first engine rebuild
and these were pretty reliable the Jesel belt drive will just
be for show on my new engine rebuild also the transbrake valvebody
and 3 stage nitrous are ready for installation !!

Oh now I understand, if you are just using it for show then you should be fine..... the fact that the upper pulley will not be connected to your cam will surely effect the performance and could make for hard starting :)

You need a custom cam with the correct snout. (Jesel Sportsman 8◦ timing adjustment w/White Rhino Belt on V6 Bowtie Block). BTW you will hardly see it when all the accesories are on the front of the block and the water pump is in front of it.
