idle issue

Well im a lil unsure of whats up here i pulled upper plenum to change injectors , the gasket was brittle so i ended up not being able to find a upper intake plenum gasket i decided to put it back together with ultra black siliconei waited for it to cure and all. I pulled off throttle body gave it a pretty good cleaning and pulled out stock iac and cleaned it as well didnt play with adjustment just cleaned with carb spray. I got alot of gunk out, i installed new throttle body gasket, gheesh i even re routed all vaccum lines andtiestrapped them all up,i pulled fuses after i finished to clear computer. When i stsryed back.up truck gave me high idle and hunted until it found then would try to cut off then i turned it back on and would idle high about 2500 rpms. I tried resetting iac as per procedure, nothing. Then i installed a new iac and reset again, then truck would run in gear but then in idle after warmed up would idle high in park. I dont know what this could be im going crazy.
It has all new tune up parts and vac lines. Boost guage shoees vac steady at idle and not jumpy. I dont have a scan tool at rhis time. I do however like to addd when your driving it has power no bogging no lack off accel its just an idle isdue. No popping. Could it bethe fact that i used silicone to seal upper intake plenum to the lo. If so im goin to have to get paper to make gasketwer the

Re: idle issue

When I replaced the gaskets up top, I had to get gaskets from a trans am iirc. Also you checked for vacuum leaks? And then checked again for vac leaks?

Re: idle issue

Spray some carb cleaner around the intake... if its got a vacume leak youll seecthe rpms change

Re: idle issue

The intake gaskets are available . I've purchased several off ebay . Some Napa's carry them also .

Re: idle issue

I just wasted a whole can of brake cleaner on engine and no change.

now the truck idles all the way up to 2500-3000 and then wants to come all the way down and die in rpms and if I put truck in gear it wants to die out compeletey as soon as you put it in gear????

I pulled out the throttle body again and checked for any clogged holes and its as clean as it was when I put it on yesterday, I pulled the iac vlave and it looks to have the 28mm measurement needed by the book.

heres another question I have a turbotweak chip for stock injectors and larger turbo, but I pulled out the stock injectors to go with a 36lb bosch white type of injector used on the 3800 series 2 supercharged cars I only did this to add more fuel for the larger turbo could it be that the injectors are whats giving me the idle issue????? if you hold it reved or get it to drive as it is now the truck off idle is fine no smoking no raw fuel no nothing but as soon as it comes down to idle it just wants to cut off or idle high.

im going crazy with this I just didn't want to throw a new IAC at it for fun if the known functioning good one I have doesn't fix this issue.....im stumped.

should I just reinstall the stock injectors? I could understand flipping out the chip tune if I went from 30lb stock injectors to a 50 or 60lb injector as its a big jump but from 30 to 36 shouldn't have been that much of a jump to trip the chip out. I know on the lt1 engines you can go to a larger injector from like stock 24 to a 30 or 36 and it will still idle just waste a bunch of fuel while driving, so why the issue here,

Re: idle issue

Yeah changing injectors is an important thing you left out of your post. Go back to the injectors for the chip

Re: idle issue

well to conclude this thread my problem was.....

the throttle body linkage the part were it contacts the idle adjust screw had been bent I guess at some previous part of its life to I guess maybe have it idle up more rpm's guessing they saw the idle screw sealed off so they just bent arm on linkage to idle it up... now after doing a spring cleaning to the throttle body I had removed close to like 1/8" thickness of crud behind the throttle blades i had remembered looking thru TB blades and seeing that there was a lot of light coming thru them like if it was to open but payed no mind to it, it turned out all the crud i cleaned out is what had kept the car idling fine before cleaning it left it accelereated at idle thus my idle mission been running strong since last time i posted. this was my problem.
