hi guys
i think of doing a restoration for my ty eng
and thinking of putting this on it :

1:Competition Cams Magnum Retro-Fit Cam and Lifter Kits
Hydraulic Flat Tappet, Advertised Duration 280/ 280, Lift .525/ .525

2: Federal Mogul Engine Rebuild Kits, Forged Flat, 4.020 in. Bore, .020 in. Rod, .010 in. Main,High volume oil pump.

3:Edelbrock Performer 4.3L T.B.I. V6 Intake Manifolds(Basic Operating RPM Range: Idle-5,500 RPM )

4:MSD Distributor Cap and Rotor Kits with wires and plugs

but i have this question : when i bought my typhoon i didn't found any filter on the turbocharger you know the air filter so the turbo is not protected . from where can i get the air filter kit ??

second the turbo cooler is not connected when i connect it does it give me an extra horsepower or it's just for keeping the turbo cool??

finally if i wanna replace my raditor is there any difference between the typhoon and the jimmy raditor ??

Alright...back up a few steps here.

Yes, the turbo needs a filter. Here is a pic of it. Orange 90 degree elbow sticks on the turbo inlet, small hose goes to drivers valve cover, big tube goes across the top of the radiator. If you need the whole setup, lemme know; I have one, but they're getting rare.

Any particular reason why you're going with a Edelbrock intake instead of stock SyTy? Edelbrock you will have to machine / weld in fuel injector bungs, have fuel rails made, buy an aftermarket throttle body and 90 degree intake elbow. Stick with the stock stuff.

Yes, the intercooler should be hooked up and operational. Intercooler keeps intake air temps (IAT) low; high IAT = detonation. Detonation = knock retard of timing. Knock regard = mad crappy power.

Typhoon and Jimmy radiators are the same as long as it has tranny and engine oil coolers.

Your engine kit doesnt sound too bad, but you should disassemble your engine and see what sizes you really need before ordering internal parts. You will have to bore the block for .020 over pistons, but what if .020 isnt enough- and you end up going .030 to clean up the cylinders?

As for the cam, I thought we had roller cams already? If so, you dont need a retrofit cam or retrofit lifters. You just need a roller cam for a roller block and OE style roller lifters.

No....do not replace the stock intake. Keep it; there is nothing wrong with it. You cannot buy those filter setups anymore. Kenne Bell used to sell a kit, along with ATR, but both are long gone for SyTy stuff. Many people either make kit using the orange elbow, a cone filter and some imagination, or use the stock stuff.

1- we already have a roller cam, expensive retro kits are not needed.

2- Forged Flats are going to have the wrong Compression ratio. Do search on what part are recommended (piston/rods) or search/contact Tucker Auto Parts.

3- Change intake/addign fuel injectors/reprograming the chips is not for novices.

4-IMO rebuilt the stock distributor and use quality caps, rotors, plugs and wires (I like the MSD wires) See Tucker Auto parts...

so what do you advice me to do if i wanna increase my engine power and torq
coz allready im gonna put my engine on a stand coz its need rebuilding and cleaning
and and some items are missing (because of the last owner ) .
can i clean the turbocharger ?? if it's yes could any one tell me how ??

and about the (AWD) the last owner has remove it so my ty now is 2WD
so should install the frot axle and make it AWD again ??

If you have driven your Typhoon and don't realize the benefit of AWD, I would guess your way down in power. One thing SyTy have an adundance of its torque. It should easily spin the tires in 1st, break the tires free with little effort on the 1-2 shift. I would start diagnosis what is wrong with you truck first before you start modifying it. You might find a quite a bit of missing HP/torque.

that what i'm doing i'm going to collect the missing parts first coz my ty need alot of work
the last owner was have sy and this ty but he likes the sy more than the ty so he use the ty as a parts source
maybe you"re woundring if the truck is in a bad condition why i bought it
coz the truck price is tooooooooooooo low and it still has the original turbo charger
and there is only 5 typhoons in kuwait and mine is one of them
and i'm a rare and muscle cars collector
