I think Im at a crossroads with TY

Well you have several things working against you, altitude cause your gonna be lean anyway to start with but "tuning" can make a huge difference here, Ty weight (your heavy), and it looks like somthing has changed with you engine. I don't understand the "regress" part. Did this happen by it's self I.E. a mechanical problem or did you change somthing? I f mechanical, find the problem and repair it. If it was a change made by you then go back. If tune A was ok, tune B was better or good and now tune C blows chunks, go back to B and try a different angle. But hammering it with 5-6 + KR for very long will do damage 8 KR or more and it may not be long till your looking for new engine.

Actually the people who have told me this were people that are deep into the turbo world. One guy owns a shop here and has an 11 sec VR4. Its ugly but have to say it is pretty damn fast. I probably will go wqith the alky. I want to get it as good as can be w/o it first. I think Ild rather go as far as I can go for now with the chipping thing and then go ALKY. Or is it opposite?

People that want to waste time & money on making their existing inadequate parts fast never ceases to amaze me. If you have a goal and know your existing setup won't do it, why beat your head against a wall trying to do it when minor upgrades here and there will achieve it?

Just put the alky in and be prepared to be amazed by what your intake temps and knock levels do. You can get TONS more power out of what you have now with it.

you would have to redo setup for the alky. it will change how you fuel the engine.

If he has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator he can back off fueling or increase boost or most likely a little of each. Ideally you will want to adjust the entire map but until that's available to him it's pretty easy to add in methanol and increase boost and decrease fuel. Alky injection is actually VERY simple to add on and get amazing gains from and is also very tunable for when you're ready to wring every ounce of power out via tuning.

Re: I think Im at a crossroads with TY

Guess it sounds like a good place to start. I did have a fuel pump hose blow but Ive been over that a few times now. Ive dropped the tank atleast 3 times just to make sure it was ok and it is. I was having very erratic FP readings with the disc INJ's. I was told you are supposed to shave down the holes for them in the intake but didnt know this til recently. I also recently purchased some 40's with chip. Its drivabi;ity is faar better than what it was but not so sure I care for the chip. Cant really say I did all I can do to it set up like that either. Thing that sucks about the chip is its a 2 bar. I dont get why someone would make a 2bar chip for 40 # injectors.

I thought he was talking about doing a custom chip...

Jer is right, the Typhoon I bought from him is incredibly fast. I haven't been beaten on the street yet ;)

We is. Im going to collect the Meth kit and all the tuning stuff I need and slap it all together. Screw it. Wish I could get my Ultimate fixed in the meantime. I sent Todd an email about a week ago and havent heard back yet. I just put the 40's back in with the chip and am going to get around like that for now til I can get everything else together. I may start picking up the chipping stuff sooner than later since its not all that expensive.

I think that's his goal down the road but for now the chip he has will allow him to go to larger injectors. using that chip and those injectors he should have MORE than enough fuel for lots of powah! using methanol and more boost. The two biggest problems he's having or lack of fueling and knock due to lack of fueling and increased intake temps. Methanol will supplement the fueling as well as chill the intake temps as well. Also, no high dollar intercooler setup necessary with that as your IAT's will be lower than with a $1k A2A conversion anyway. Methanol injection should be one of the first mods that ALL turbo charged vehicles have, right up there with a boost gauge, boost control & some means to monitor knock/EGTs.

Example: Take a look at the GN crowd and what they have been doing for many years now with minimal mods and alky injection. It's kind of ironic how a group that has a 'dated' automobile is pioneering the way forced induction cars can take advantage of methanol and the crowds with the 'newer technology' vehicles still call it a band aid fix and laugh it off choosing to ignore the proven power gains.

why did you sell it??

Because in the two years I owned it I put less than 1,500 miles on it after getting it back to Colorado. When it was sunny out I drove the Supra sans roof and when it's cold/rainy/crappy out or I need to haul something I had the truck. Audi was for highway duties and daily driver so there was really no place for the Ty other than sitting in the back corner of my garage only to get cleaned up from time to time and dumping more money into it and doing more mods. Seemed a shame to own such a powerful stallion and keep it in the stalls never to let it run free. Now it's stretching it's legs in Canada and the new owner loves it. I still miss my stallion though...
