I always end up finding things in my hands or pockets. Of course thats after I spend long amounts of time looking elsewhere.

Murphys law states that you'll end up stepping on it or running it over. In the first instance, the result may be slipping on the object and falling as a result, kicking it into the 5th dimension as you go down. The latter may result in a punctured tire and a destroyed fitting, both of which adding to the frustration.
