Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

Hey guys, for all you that have or are getting hydra boost, this will apply. I have made, in my garage, a bracket that would adapt the hydra boost unit so that you do not have to cut or weld on the shaft. My thoughts on it go like this. Lets face it, most of us are going to get our units out of the junkyard. Even if we don't, why hack up a brand new unit? Then if your unit (new or used) ends up going bad, guess what, off to the junk yard you go to not only get another unit, but a stock type brake booster as well. Now if there was a way to only replace the shaft from the booster to the hydra boost, I could see that making a BIG difference. How ever, I have yet to see anything like that. Plus I also feel that the fact that you may have to modify this shaft would make this an unappealing mod to many as some may not even have the tools or know how to do so. There are a lot of "plug-n-play" guys here. Here are some pics of the bracket I made, let me know if you guys think there is an easier way to do this.

Re: Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

I think the plate to space it from the firewall would either be heavy or add an extra inch of intrusion into the bay.

I like what TYTILIDIE has done here and am interested. How much for one? Shipped to 06607? Are you marketing these yet?

Re: Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

I will not make these. It took me about 3 hours and if I did one again probably would be looking at around 1 and a half hours. Its something I couldn't selling for more than $40/50. Wouldn't really be worth my time. I had been talking to Renz to see what he thought but I am not sure this is something that would easily be produced. It may very well not be worth anyone's time. As far as how it works goes, the plate you guys are talking about is to cover the hole left over. Mine is 1/8" steel. It does move the forward slightly but that is really not the goal. The hydra boost unit/shaft, is 1" shorter than the stock booster. The eyelet is also around twice the size. This bracket set up I have made just makes it to where you don't have to modify anything to run the hydra boost.

I dont understand why you guys are doing opposite things here.
Mike says the shaft is shorter so he's basically making an extension, but Ken is talking about moving the hydro boost away from the firewall.
Are there different setups if they come from different applications or something?

Re: Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

OK, I am going to make another one and "refine" the process and materials and see what I can do it for. Give me til the end of the weekend. I am going to try and search for things I can use to make these without doing a bunch of grinding, maybe even see how much it would cost to have the metal pieces cut then I can weld it all myself.

Re: Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

Looks like I would need 10 people at a time to make this affordable. I would sell them at $65 per kit. That would include shipping to the lower 48. I'll probably just put this whole idea off for a while. I got to thinking, most people have already cut/welded their shafts so this may be useless as it is.

Oh you mean for you? I can do it if you really want me to but i will just tell you now it is not going to be gorgeous, it will look just like one in the pics only maybe a little better since I have already done and now have a process for it.

Re: Hydraboost Adapter Brackets

yes i'm interested in making these. I'll be tinkering with my pedal this weekend so i'll look at what's involved. If you want to make them thats fine with me...but if you don't feel like doing a large batch i'm game.
