Hood release issues/hood height

My hood is a bitch to open (feels like im going to pop my hood release handle off some day before the hood pops.). I also noticed I don't have any grease or anything at the hood latch.

Any specific type of grease I should use for this?

Also, the two hood bumpers. Are these supposed to be adjustable or fixed height? My hood is chipping away at my RPM intake and I need to raise the hood so I don't wear a hole through the piping. Are there any tricks I'm missing on getting it leveled? I'm using a cowl hood, not OEM.

Use vaseline, on everything...lol. My hood release is a bit stiff. Make sure it isn't kinked anywhere, I had that problem once.

if you try raising those 2 bumpers (they are threaded, you can adjust the height by twisting them) and make them too high...it will make the hood extremely tough to open.

don't yank too hard, it's pretty easy to break the cable, or pull it out of the release latch. And then you will get spend time with your favorite screwdriver trying to open your hood

Been there done this. Replaced my cable assembly with a doorman one and its still super hard to pull. Wonder if adjusting the bumpers will help.

Might have to move the hood catch around. It's held by 2 or 3 bolts ( can't remember) and just lossen them a bit close your hood and then pull the release. Check if your catch moved abit. And then tighten up the bolts.

You either have a bad cable or your latch needs to be adjusted. There are 2 things that could be wrong with it, it needs to be centered or it needs to move up and down. The best way to center it is to undo the 2 bolts on the hood side of the latch, remove the grille and then close the hood. It the handle pulls easy, tighten up the bolts where it is. If that doesn't work you need to either adjust the rubber bumpers or screw the hood pin in or out, which can be a pain, just make sure if you do this the catch is in the right spot, again having the grille out will give you more access to see what's going on.

find a good cable at the junk yard, or put spacers at the hood end of the cable to tighten it up. ALL my trucks have had annoying issues with this, junk yard cable fixed the worst of them
