Just got my stereo installed and the passenger rear speaker isn't working. How do you disconnect the plugs?

Re: help disconnecting rear speaker

I'm guessing this isn't your problem.

There is a connector on the driver's side floor that will come loose (I've seen it on mine and one other truck). I'd run an ohm meter front to back before replacing the speaker. I've never seen a bad speaker not make some noise.

Thanks, I'm trying to figure out the problem, whether in the wires or the harness. About to hook up the ohm meter

Re: help disconnecting rear speaker

I removed the stereo and the harness, connected the ohm meter to the speaker plug and went thru the harness plug and found the right wire, then i plugged in the stereo harness and traced it down making sure all the connections were good all the way to the end that plugs into the headunit. Good readings all the way down the line.. for both positive and negative. do I have a bad head unit?

Re: help disconnecting rear speaker

Damn - maybe it is a bad speaker - lol. What about popping the drivers side speaker out just for fun.

You mentioned it was a new stereo - or just installed? Are you running through an amp? Balance is set correct :)

Bought it and installed it yesterday

Before i disconnected everything I swapped the drivers and passenger speakers, still nothing on the passenger side. the balance was at 0 and so was the fade before i popped it out. Gonna put it all back together just to see what happens, then take the head unit back i guess?
