i was wondering if any of you have done anything with swapping out your ring and pinion?

if i was to use a 3.42 in the rear. what would i have to do with the front diff?

Re: gear changing?

the stock gears are 3.42? but as for changing them you would have to do the same in the front or you would screw the clutch in the tc i would imagine.

Re: gear changing?

If you go 3.73 your truck will slow down....the fast guys all go to 3.08 depending on combo. Turbos want LOAD not a low gear ratio.

Re: gear changing?

just wondering because i was going to buy a built rearend from silly a forum member, its supposed to be a great setup. but he had 3.73's in it. i was wondering if it'd be best to leave them in or go different. but i think that you answered my question.

Re: gear changing?

Anyone know what gearing options Herman would have if he went to a 9" rear?

Re: gear changing?

The 9" has 3:25's avalible.. which a 3:23 in a GM front diff would work with very slight tire size change front to rear.
Just a thought...

Since I'm going to use 3:25's in my Camaro this year.
