I would like to thank peter, nick and rob for helping me get some good numbers last night. Peter cut .5 second off my best and gave me 9mph for a 11.05 at a impressive 127.45 mph, so close to a 10 but maybe next time. Big Al , your truck is sweet also and rob just about got that 12.98 with a all stocker . What a fun time guys, i cant wait to hook up some more. jack ostrander

Yup...we had a great time. Peter hacked away at Jack's SpeedPro, and the truck really woke up. 127mph...that's close to Hoover territory! But, the tech guys were a little pissed about him going 11.0 without a rollbar

Al's truck is really sweet, too. He built a killer front mount air:air IC. And, he already ordered ported Vortecs, ATR headers & a 63 turbo.

I was hoping for a 12 second pass out of #2596. It went 13.1 @ 100mph before some bonehead oiled down the track. Then it spun hard on the next pass, so the ET didn't improve, but it ran 101mph. I'll be back next week with another pound of boost...that ought to do it. Not too bad for a stocker, but I'm getting all fired up about bringing out the fast truck after seeing Jack's truck.

The 60ft on that pass was 1.72, at a 6lb launch, the pass before that i left at about 9lbs and the 60 was 1.66 but the truck was loose and did 100mph in the eighth mile and then the intercooler hose came off, that might of been the 10 second pass we were looking for. Pittman, the .5 second came off with tuning the speedpro( thanks peter) and brian you know the combo Mcoy super motor , stokes grind cam , vortec heads 72 turbo , 72 lb injectors , speedpro, air to air and i was using autolite 104s last night. I got some NGKs but have not tried them yet. Oh yeah, the hartman tranny, the lockup must have contributed to the great m.p.h.? What a blast the truck is!!!

Yeah I thought I knew the buildup, wanted to know for sure, plus I knew others would ask..

Nice going... almost exact combo I had for 11.0 @ 125, Seems like you have a bit more potential running the 72 over the 63 I used.

What was the boost level?

appreciate the support guys, so keith do you have a killer build going in the syclone ? jack

Just got settled in back at home and wanted to give my Moroso/FL Sy/Ty Crew impressions.

1st off, Jack, Al,and Rob are just FREAKIN AWESOME guys to hang with. Rob KNOWS his sy/ty and is the only guy I know who can claim DEATH BY SYCLONE LAUNCH!!! (tell'em Rob, hehehe). Man, you got stories brotha!!!

Al, your Sy is lookin good and I bet it will be faster in the near future..wink, wink....now get a T76BB and go mid 10's!!!

Jack, you are an INCREDIBLY gracious host, friend, and Sy/Ty'er. For all who don't know, Jack came outta left field w/a monster stock block Sy sportin a killer combo. The truck is VERY nicely done and taken care of.

Big Props to Brian Hartman too. Jack's runnin a Stage IV Hartman kit I believe, and like alot of other Listers, I've been waiting to see if his kits really work as there not cheap.

Well, I'm VERY HAPPY to report that they do, and VERY well at that. Rob and I started callin Jack's Sy the 5 speed Sy b/c when that lock up hits (and jack can lock it ANYWHERE, 2nd down low, etc), that truck just squats, loves the load, and PULLS like a freight train. When we hit the track too, the tranny just laughed at us when Jack ran 23 #'s!! The only thing I didn't like and BH has told me its a function of the tranny is it won't go in OD until about 55 mph due to the inc line pressure. There is NO SLIP in this tranny and I should know...LOL

Anyway, Jack has also pioneerd runnin ET Streets on the rear w/BFG DR's on the front and THEY WORK. I'm convinced after watchin his launches (yes I got vids) that these stick MUCH better then DR's on the rear. Jack did a 9 # launch and the rears held, but the fronts lifted and he got all squirrely, had to let off and STILL had a 1.65 60 ft I believe. Thats just nuts. All these runs were made w/o any tire heatage and w/Jack still learnin how to launch his Sy.

I should also mention Jack's Sy is LIGHT (jack, what it weigh again?) and that his Weld Draglite Xp's look TITS on a Sy. I know I'm shoppin for a set.

Now, call me crazy, but I think for MAX 60ft/ET, the hot setup is ET streets on all 4 corners. I think w/a good burnout, you'd get 1.5's for sure. Not sure on parts breakage though, hehehe.....

Now, onto the actually runs. For the record, Jack has now gone 11.05 in his Sy w/ roughly 23 #'s boost and has only made like 7 runs TOTAL on his Sy since he got it runnin and at least 3 of those 7 were 1/8 mile passes to tune the SP too. So basically, his shit picked up quick.

When I got to Moroso and Jack made his 1st pass, his AFR was 9:1 (STUPID RICH) all the way thru. Since Jack was runnin my SP program and I've been learnin SP from BG (thanks BG for schoolin me!!) and others, I made changes to his VE tables ONLY and his sy just keep leavin faster and harder. On his final pass, I thought he was gonna break somethin his sy left so hard. All runs were made on 116 oct and NO KNOCK on any pass.

1st pass: 100 mph in the 1/8 with 1.65 60ft and he let off after 2nd gear so we could further tune. 6 # launch, no spin.

2nd pass: don't remeber #'s, but DO remember the 9 # launch that the ET's held and front DR's didn't!! He almost went right into the stands!!

3rd pass: 97 mph in 1/8, 127 in 1/4 and 11.05 ET, 1.77 60ft (left too soft).

Now, according to my calcs, if Jack can get a 1.60 or better 60ft and run that mph, he's got 10.80 in his Sy as it sits. He's still got another 2-3 #'s boost to go too and his SP needs ALOT more tunin. He needs play w/2nd gear lock up too as me and Rob heard it boggin 2nd sometimes. He also is runnin stock leaf and no caltracs (which are both goin on next).

As somebody thats gone 10's, I was SUPER IMPRESSED w/his Sy and MPH's on his runs. Folks, 128 is what Hoover ran to go 10.60's at Nats in 1999. See where I'm goin here? I now have further evidence to prove my theory that a stock block/crank Sy can go 10.50's and run 130 mph or better in the 1/4 while remaining AWD, turbo, V6. I also think 1.5 60fts are w/in our grasp. Hell, if DSM's can cut 1.3's, why can't a sy/ty get a 1.5?

I look forward to hearin from Jack and seein him at the Nats this year w/his bad ass Sy.

Just think what it'll run if he lightens it up more as he's plannin too.

I think the final tally too was my SP tunin yield another 10 mph for Jack and I clean shaved .5 off his ET from 1.5 to 11.0 and as anybody who knows can tell you, that kinda reduction is anything BUT easy at those levels. I figure he prolly picked up another 75-100 HP at the wheels from the tunin. H

Oh yeah, Nick Caviasca (NASTETY92/PTE website poster boy), who was with me is STILL MY BITCH!!

Hope all this info helped somebody and was just my mindless ramblings. I know I learned ALOT. Any Q's, hit me up.
