fuel pressure

during shifts my ty wreaks of fuel...and i could here some backfires bellowing in the hollowed out cat.....so i thought i should maybe check my fuel pressure. Well I searched around here to find out what kind of pressure i SHOULD be running, and found anywhere from 40-50psi. I have an 3 bar ultimate chip, and boost is supposedly at about 16-17psi. I haven't gotten a boost gauge yet, but the last owner said thats what datamaster read.

So i got out my handy fuel pressure gauge. To my shock, it was at an impressive 73psi at idle w/ the vacuum line disconnect. After laughing for a few minutes I adjusted it back to 50psi. I was quite amazed at how the motor sounded as i back the fp down. Maybe i'll get better gas mileage now! The 73psi let me shoot gas about 15 feet out of the eject tube though. I almost broke out my lighter and made a flame thrower out of it.

Anyway, driveability seems better. I have a small stumble at low RPMs but it prolly just need new plugs from swimming in gas for so long. What do you guys recommend for fp setting? 50psi? 45psi? 42.0054psi?
