fuel pressure issue

well I finally got around to putting a fuel pressure guage on my truck and noticed it was putting out nearly 100psi if I remember correctly it was making 95psi on the guage then when you turn off truck the guage just goes all the way down to 0 psi as soon as you turn it off. Plus when you pul vacuum off the regulator notihng happens needle just stays at 95psi with engine running. And yes guage is working as I pulled it off anther car it was working on. Also noticed at idle the truck would smell like raw fuel out the muffler pipe im guessing it is.

Im taking it that I need a new fuel regulator anyone else want to chime in here to back me up?

Could be a restriction in the return also. Whatever it is it has probably ruined the pump also. Sounds like you have a restriction on the return and a bad drainback valve in the pump. Your restriction could be the regulator if its adjusted too high. If its not adjustable, you have a pinched return.
