FS: Laptop (HP DV4000)

Got a spare laptop lying around that I just put a new motherboard in.

HP Pavilion DV4000
- Intel Pentium M 2.00 GHz Processor
- 1GB DDR RAM
- Intel 915GM Graphics
- Intel PRO Wifi
- Windows 7 SP1
- Tunerpro RT preinstalled with all current xdf/adx/drivers
- Brand new motherboard and charger

$80 + S&H (price reduced for battery)

The lid top has moderate signs of wear/scratches, and the touchpad has the classic wear spot in the middle (works flawlessly though).
Also, the battery doesn't hold a reliable charge, but replacements batteries are cheap ($19.99): Like this one.

Now some pics:

Quite well. We optimize all systems we repair or sell, and the performance on minimal hardware is good. Is this system gonna play modern games or output 720P on a flat screen.....nah-uh. But, it's intended to be an $80 tuning laptop and for that it does just fine. I didn't get a WEI while I had it open, but will look Monday. Will also get a P/S overview and a raw +-PF scale while I'm looking. Obviously, that will change as P/S's are changed and the PF demand subsequently changes.

To explain further.....it's well known that 7 requires less hardware prowess to run healthy than Vista did. When 7 was still in early beta stage, we did some testing for PNY (RAM company) and Microsoft on RAM/PF indexing and what a bare minimum could be (they were ironing out some changes to the WEI). We found out that (if using a modified install, standard PF hacks, and some optimization) we got decent stability and some surprising WEI scores with only 384MB. One of my employees even scripted a hack and we got Aero running on less than 512MB. I was pleasantly surprised with W7 performance on meager hardware.

Having said that, this is a single core, 2ghz, 1gb ram system so don't expect it to set the world on fire....especially if you have 10 tabs open, AVG doing a scan, and VLC playing a rip of the latest Modern Family.

Thanks for sharing your findings that's very interesting. Im going to have to invest some time into some of the older models I have laying around to see how well they can handle win7 32

Thanks
