Emissions test.... failed

This month marks the 10 year anniversary I purchased my Syclone. I never have had any trouble with CT Emissions test.... until today. I believe this test will be my last emissions test because my next one will be in 2 years and the truck will be over 25 years old by then. So the reason I failed my test was because the gas cap failed the pressure test. Everything else passed as I figured it would.

Now I have to purchase a new gas cap and get tested all over again. It's more of a pain in the ass than anything, but I guess it could be worse.

I don't miss the days of emission testing. That's why I got a collector plate so that I would be exempt. However, that didn't work for my other cars :(... In Ohio, they give you a new gas cap if yours is bad at the testing station.

In Washington You have to get a new cap, but only have to return to have cap pressure checked with their hand tool and they watch you put the passed cap on the car. 2 minutes if it's slow.

I have the classic CT plate, but they still require emissions test until 25 years. So you can get the classic plate at 20 years and then no more emissions at 25 years. I have 60 days to buy a new gas cap and get it tested again. I should've done it today since it was 50 and sunny and no snow.....

Code what?
Here in TX you would only go back and have the cap tested, the rest of the test stays on file.

Yep in Georgia varies by county but for me near Atlanta counting the days to 25 years … albeit after 3 catalytic converters since 2002, vacuum line issues, overheating due to A/C clutch / condenser , O2 sensor fault, new distributor and later coil, and yearly finger crossing for a cooler than normal October day to pass. Even drive out 30 miles to go to a shop where guys will abort test if fail is near…yep can't wait to get the Antique plate and forgo emission

I actually failed last year for the same reason/ bad gas cap. The only thing that sucks for me is I actually have to go one last time next December. I bought a new cap it took them minutes to retest cap and I was out of there.

Anyone who has seen my engine bay knows it's not stock at all. I just did the smog check and passed very well. They didn't do the EGR test like they did last time, so I'm considering doing the Vortec heads now. I've been meaning to post up the sniffer results.
