Thinking about Dynamat in at least a few places in the interior, if not the whole interior.

Anybody have bad experiences with Dynamat?

Cost way to much, get a off brand, a good off brand, much cheaper and just as good.

Ummm... i think a really good one has the word "Brown" in it, its been a long time but i think it was like 1/3 the cost of Dyn and worked just as well, search on the audio boards and so some searches.

I used the Dynamat 36 sq. ft pack on my entire floorboard and halfway up the back of the cab.

Thats what I ended up using in the wifes subie and had enough left over to do a few panels in the Ty.

I did find it cheaper on ebay as well.

Saw in the 'Rides' show where they dynamatted the entire interior of the Mustang they were customizing. Seems like it would make a big difference. Of course, just the act of removing and re-installing all the interior plastic will reduce the squeaks and rattles considerably, based on my experience witha '91 S-Blazer. Good to know there are cheaper 'dynamat-clone' alternatives out there.

As for weight... anyone looked at how to weight-reduce the Ty rear seat? That thing is a pig. There are (presumably) safe seats now in minivans & SUVs that are much lighter. Alloy frame? Just a thought.....

Well, it all depends on how many times you have taken your car apart.
I did my entire 93' four door blazer with a dynamat type sound deadener, I also used 3M rubberized undercoating inside the doors and well, under it. I knew that car like the back of my hand. Ive only done about a quarter of the typhoon. I found that one of the hardest areas to dynomat were the kickpanels. It was kind of hard to find just the right amount to use, without bulging out the panels. The best thing to remember is that you need to remove ALL of the factory sound insulation, it will be mofo, especially the adhesive they used to glue it down, definitly invest in some adhesive remover (3M). I should add that I have never done a headliner in a car, it could be a pain to get it to look right with insulation under it.

before I got my ty I did research on sound deadening and ended up choosing the raammat 60 v3 which is supposedly as good as dynamat extreme or even better. my ty came with 100sqft of dynamat extreme installed so I dont need the raammat anymore. if you want it I will sell it cheap. its untouched in the box, latest version, top quality. drop me a line if interested.
