Has anyone ever bought a Dakota Digital Dash for there Sy/TY or SGT?
I thought his was a g.m digital, not a Dakota.I might be wrong, but thinks otherwise.
I just picked up a digital dash out of a 1994 Brevada. The guy claimes that it will work in an S-10 so for $20 I took a gamble. I haven't put it in yet, nor do I really know how, but I have a friend helpping me out. I will let you know if it works. Here is the ebay auction link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0405612251&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Not sure if it will show up since the auction is over.

I do believe you will need all the sending units that came with the truck to make those gauges work in your truck.
The stock GM digital dash will work fine with the existing sending units. You just need to get the pigtail that plugs into the back of the clcuster and splice it into your harness..

I have no clue what it takes to use the Dakota digital dash...
Me either. I hope it is not that big of a pain. I read somewhere about a cable needed to link the old gauges to the digital ones. Where do I get one of those? Thanks.

It's not a "pigtail". The Inst Panel harness is different for the two clusters.
- You need the connector with about 12" of wire from a digital cluster harness.
- Remove the IP from the truck. There is no way to splice the new connector into the existing harness without removing the harness from the dash, and only way to get the harness out is to remove the IP. There's a how-to in the Vault for the IP removal.
- Cut off the old cluster connector. Splice the digital to the harness color-for color.
You will have some extra wires:
- white = tachometer. connect to wht wire at coil
- dk brn = hot with taillights on. you must connect this wire to the taillight circuit. If you don't the cluster will be 'dark' on power-up. You can find this wire in the harness going to the radio. do not confuse with other brn for generator light.
- pnk/wht = to the 'brake' fuse circuit. this wire is in the harness going to the DRAC.
Those are the highlights. There is more, but that's from memory. You really need a Helms manual or AllData for wiring diagrams. I've done two of these conversions. There is no way to do it without removing the IP. It's a full day project, at best. Probably more like a weekend.
Good Luck.
