Late reply. I meant to say, basically just "turned on the existing air condition unit".

It is possible your idle air controller unit is
sticking this unit raises idle rpm when in
gear or using a/c and accesories .

I'm trying to get mine in time & found it timed to the 12 oclock mark (1st mark). Is this right? I turned the distributor far to the left to get the 5 oclock mark in time, & the truck wont stay running. I did disconnect the wire under the dash. I am able to get it only to 3oclock (basically in between the 2 marks) & plug wire#1 on the dist is about 5 oclock & it runs.

Hi Jay,

Sorry for late reply here, I'd double check to see if your balancer has slipped, take some pictures, then from my experience back then (and it's still running good today), I'd set it mechanically with TDC and pulling the plug #1 to spark with ignition on as described above,

I didn't have luck with timing light...
