Boost Spike

I have an intake, PROMPAQ chip and hollowed out cat with the stock exhaust. If I am cruising at any speed and punch the gas it will spike to 18-20 and then level off at 16psi. Is this because the turbo has not been port matched to the manifold?

no its because the WG sucks then you made it worse with a hallowed out cat and the chip I have never heard of. one of the worse things you can do on a stock turbo/WG setup is hallow out the cat.

This was all done before I owned it. Would a high flow cat with ATR exhaust be better?

anything you can do to restrict the exhaust will help(bad for performance but good for control). also porting the WG inlet and the turbine housing will also help so will a higher base boost actuator.

Yeah I have thought about pulling it apart and taking a grinder to it. Maybe I need to do that.

Who makes internal WG actuators for these cars? I know HRC makes some for Mitsu turbos but not sure if there is a reputable one out there already known.
