Best IC pump?

I have a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (roots supercharged) I recently bought a water/air intercooler for my engine and am hoping to get some help from you guys. (Since you have a water/air intercooler stock)

What is your recomendation on pumps?

Do you sugest a diaphram pump so that it won't fail from pumping air, or magnetic driven centrifugal pump, so particles don't burn the motor?

I would like the best pump for a daily driven forced induction beast 8) So continious use long lasting pumps are a must. Rebuildable wouldn't hurt either.

This has been discussed a little before. Most people prefer the Jabsco, Johnson, or shurflo pumps. The jabsco and johnson are very similar in design to the stock syty pump; small, with the inlet on the side, and the outlet centered at the end of the pump housing (right?). I am not 100% sure about these two pumps however. I work at a RV service/sales center, we use shurflos only. IMO they are of very high quality, they can be run dry for extended lengths of time without damage, in fact since shurflos use a rubber diaphram, they have been used to pump HYDROCHLORIC ACID!! I use a shurflo pump on my typhoon, I like it a lot. GPM is 2.8 @45psi. There are other models available, like the new variable speed, 5.7GPM @65PSI, this might be too much (like garden hose pressure), if there was such a thing

I have very little knowledge on the johnson especially. I will say, IMO that the jabsco=poop. RV manufacturers wont even use them. I have heard that the johnson is a good pump though.

ShurFlos are the larger of the three but I had the best luck with the shurflo over jabsco and johnson.
I have a Johnson now and it only pumps about half the time.
For some reason it gets air in the system and cavitates.
May be a leak, may be a bad pump...

Jabsco was the OG syty replacement, mercedes used it to pump heated coolant. That was their advantage, the operational heat range.

The Johnson went in and out of production so finding them is not always easy. It does pump more than the Jabsco tho.

ShurFlo is easly the cheapest, but also the largest at ~3" diameter.
ATR uses the ShurFlo in their Aux CCHE upgrade kits.

If it was me I'd go for the johnson or the shurflo.

Also add a bottle of water wetter to your IC water mix.
I run a 60/40 coolant/distilled water mix with a bottle of ww.

i suggest the johnson - it pumps very good and needs no modifications to install and is pretty cheap - bout 40 i think... as for bleeding the ic lines i just sucked on one end of the hose until i got coolant and hooked it all up.. my pump always works anbd i have no air in the system
