I like the Baers, but I haven't ridden in a lot of trucks with upgraded brakes.

Thats the cheapest way to go. Do LS1 brakes work with the stock wheels? I have those but I have 17's. They work great, saved me from a couple accidents and I held boost off the line a lot better than my old sy which had stockers.

I'd go with the LS1 setup from CBR, it comes with everything you need for $569US, Baer's will cost approx $200 more.

Re: Best after market brakes for factory wheels?

Id say the best bang for the buck is the 98+ F-body kit from CBR, you can get the bracket kit and hoses for 229 and then just source your own calipers and rotors, which can be had off ebay for around 125, or you can buy the whole kit from CBR with new everything for just under 600. and you get a 2 piston aluminum caliper and 12" rotor and yes they will fit inside the stock wheels.

The 98+ Blazer setup is an 11" rotor and a cast iron 2 piston caliper, and it may be a direct bolt on, but im not sure, i know alot of the 2wd S-10 guys do this swap and seem to be pretty happy.

Then there is the SSBC kit that is basically just upgraded calipers with stock size rotors for around 700 bucks i think.

Then comes Bear, which are nice, but not worth the money when compared to the LS1 f-body brakes. The Bear kits uses 12 or 13" rotors that are a factory C4 vette piece, and 94-98 Mustang cobra Calipers that area dual piston aluminum design but that has smaller pistons than the LS1 F-body, 38mm VS 42mm i believe. And they can be well over a grand with all the options.

The down side is they are steel and are heavy compared to aluminum calipers. I would not recommend it.

Re: Best after market brakes for factory wheels?

yeah best bang for the buck is by far the front and read LS1 f-body brakes, they are a direct bolt on in the back and all the need is the CBR brackets for the front and check my sig for an available kit that will allow you to retain the parking brake, all completely bolt on, with only some minor mods req to the front knuckles.

Seaking of ls1 f body brakes. I have a set of 4 brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors for sale if anyone is interested. They are brand new and I would like to get $400 plus shipping. They cost me $500 about a year ago. Let me know if you would like pictures.
The reason i am selling them is because i decided to go to 13" fronts since i have 17" wheels now.
Thanks, Paul Z.
