ATR headers

These came on the truck I'm tearing down. They were very nicely wrapped, but I pulled it off so I could see the condition (I'll throw the wrap in the box if you want it). It looks like one place on the passenger's side has a repair, but the rest looks very nice. Has notch for use with angled plugs (see discussion below). Notch was done nicely enough that I couldn't tell it wasn't original (wish the same guy had done the repair...). Either send paypal as friends and family or add $20 to cover fees. Re: ATR headers

I believe they would bolt up in place of a stock manifold. They had a PTE 60 turbo mounted, but I think the mounting flange is the same on that turbo as the stocker. Somebody please correct me if that's not right.

Re: ATR headers

Curious as to the notch. Anyone have that notch in their ATR header? Is that normal for the ATR header?

I was curious about that also. Looks like it would be a huge flow restriction. It would be good information to know if the notch is factory, or if it was added later.

Re: ATR headers

I just crawled under my typhoon. ..that notch was definitely added after the fact. My guess is someone kept frying the #2 plug wire

Re: ATR headers

Definitely a addition. Some one added that for sure.

I believe ATR headers are stainless so put a magnet around the metal that was welded in if you need to know

Re: ATR headers

The "Notch" is very familiar. I have seen that done before...

Jack - Icarus-54 has a set of ATR headers that he modified with almost the exact notch.
The ATR headers did not come that way. They were modified.
They will work with stock T3 turbos.
The other cut in the flange is to clearance for the plug in the head that sticks out for the water jacket not all heads have the plug, some have 2 just depends on the head.

Maybe Jack will chime in.
I believe Jack did the notch on his so that it would clearance #2 plug with Brodix heads not certain if Jacks heads are with angle or straight plugs.

The way those headers are modified they should work with the following heads: Stock, L35's, Vortec, & Brodix-regular exhaust port- (not raised exhaust port)-but not sure if straight or angle plugs at this point.

...and yes that is an exhaust restriction but it is cheaper than custom headers if you already had the ATR's to do that trick to fit certain Brodix heads.

Re: ATR headers

The notch is to make the atr's useable with angled plugs. However it doesn't have to be that big. If done properly and using ceramic plug wires there is very little restriction. Also the notch should be angled-larger on the outboard side and tapered and shallower on the inside.

Re: ATR headers

Definitely not a stock atr deal by notching the collector....hard to believe somebody would actually do that to a set of stainless headers.

Re: ATR headers

Sounds good to me
I mean just giving me a fat check for everything, not the headers for $50 thing...
