At 3:00 AM the truck finally started...

Well I guess it is finally close to being on the road. I fired Syclone 1084 last night after trying to get it to start for the last 3 days.

I guess She didn't like sitting outside...



Now what did I learn over the last 3 nights...

I learned:

There are 2 slots on my lower pulley, and one works much better than the other.

When you kick the drill sitting on the floor it can poke a hole in the garage door...

The wife will confuse a backfire with you kicking things into the garage door...

There is nothing more annoying than trying to get to the damn distributor bolt without a crows foot or a special wrench....
(a 1/4 drive 9/16th with a swivel will work ok, but only with 3 extensions)

The Ford starter selenoid works very well! Much better than the damn purple wire syndrome of night #2. I didn't even have to cut any wires.

A little piece of plastic will hold the throttle open just enough to get the thing to started

And finally the truck's new engine can wake the neighbors, the wife and the daughter at 3 AM. (maybe I should put more than just the downpipe on)

At least I feel better!

I never said run... I just started it. I still need to put a lot back on before I drop it to the ground... I still need to put the serp belt on, put the power steering lines on, hook up the intercooler, cche, intercooler pump, aux cche, and on and on...

Not to mention the hood. The wife asked why it was in the basement. Luckily I quickly responded that the bed of the truck is already full of parts. To which I recieved the rolling of the eyes look... You married guys know the one...

At least she didn't find the exhaust pipe on the north side of the house. That one is too long to get into the basement without getting caught...

You can get LOTS more stuff in the bed when you have a topper, I had stuff in mine that didn't even go to the truck :lol::

Congrats on getting one step closer . When I was using my truck for storage, it played that role for close to three years...

I bought my Sy in 1997 from a school teacher who ran around with electronics in the back. It had a topper and a carpet covered wooden bed liner thingy. Both were pitched the very day I brought it home. I ended up selling the topper and damn was it heavy. No love for the topper here.

For a second I wondered how you got a picture of the back of my syclone! Currently in the back is a spare 1998 4.3 core, both fenderwells two hydroboost units, and even a set of zr1 rims that need to be straightened! Luckily there is a bed liner in too!! Gotta see what else is back there cuz I need christmas money!!!

WOW! I feel real lucky! My girl says "Dont leave that outside, bring it in!"..."Derek, You should really put the rims to the Ty downstairs for the winter, the temperature is more constant than the garage!" :tup: :rotf:

The topper was part of the deal for the truck. I had to pay 500 for it. But considering I got the truck in decent running condition for 5k I thought it was a necessary evil.

Plus as mike said:

"You can get LOTS more stuff in the bed when you have a topper"

Plus with winter being here a little more weight wont hurt...

My Sy was an all weather ride for years. No probs with not having weight in the back. Syclones do awesome in the snow. I rolled 16 inch snow tires one year and damn it would launch hard!
