Go to a Carmax, get it appraised. Report back with the offer.

Re: Anyone ever traded in at a dealer?

For the most part, most dealers use KBB for trade-in and will typically go down from there based on what they see - if their competent. Most dealers will then use NADA to sell.

Last I looked KBB doesn't have a specific area for collector/classic autos, but will still show a number. NADA on the other hand does have a specific listing for collector/classics.

The last big variable will be what you're buying and how much they stand to make on that. They will adjust your trade-in number to make that more desirable or attainable, in the end they are just washing numbers around.

If I used KBB to bid in trades I would get fired. That is about the most useless pricing resource on the face of the earth.

With that said, go trade that Ty in and see how badly you get your feelings hurt.

I've tried that to see what CarMax would give me for a Typhoon that I had years ago. They were so far off. I wouldn't bother with them.

Find a dealer who knows what they are will and they will be able to value the trucks fairly and accurately. Most dealers have no idea what they are let alone ever seen or heard of one.

Black book has a different guide for older/collectibles as well as autotrader classic helps give values on a high to low range. This all help those that are trying to finance them to show the lender their uniqueness and true market value. Obviously these trucks are vastly different than normal Sonoma's and Jimmy's in regards to value.

I was in a bind a few years back and long story short my wife needed a new reliable vehicle for my fast growing family..... so i traded in my 92 typhoon.... took way less than it was worth but the truck was really messed up from when i originally bought it. Id still love to know what happened to her but I never saw it on the lot so i assumed someone swiped it up immediately.....

Or they sent it straight to the Auction Block.
