Anyone ever raced a Firehawk?

Just kinda wondering what would win. I know that Firehawks would whoop a syty top speed, but are they quick from the get go? All I know is they are SWEET looking cars.

Again, all depends on the driver of the 'hawk... Sweet ass ride, if he hooked it would be miserable on a STOCK truck... Chances are, prolly wouldnt tho.. So go ahead and race 'em  let us know the results !

Dope has a 00 SS with a few basic mods, but mostly stock, and he runs consistent 13.3's with crappy 2.1-2.2 (I think that's what it was) 60' times. In the L thread, someone mentioned an almost-stock LS1 doing 12.4's. I've also heard that the SLP options on the Firehawk don't seem to add anything, and the lighter Formulas (no extra body stuff) are often faster... No firsthand experience though, so you don't have to listen to me. =)

I have never lost to a LS1 from a roll or a stop that didnt have a supercharger. I would get you an example to see in person but good luck getting any local LS1 owner to race me. Believe you me I have tried

Saw one at the track. Not sure about the year since I'm not really boned up on them. Nolan may recall. Same 14.2 or so dial in as any other LS1 around here. Older guy in a vert Firehawk as I recall. Thought he was King of the Track. Then proceeded to spin his tires right off the concrete pad. Was rather amusing actually...

when i had my Ty (all stock cept the IC pump and K&N) and my 97 ss LT1.. dad in the ss and me in the Ty... the Ty would whoop the SS in the 0-60.. he wouldnt catch me till i hit about 90mph ...our 1/4 times were Ty: 14.00 and 13.96 SS: 13.80 & 13.72.. these were the best times we ran out at Pomona when it was still in use.. SS was stock.. 6 speed.. and my dad was fairly decent at strip racing.. but keep in mind this was an LT1.. HP was 310 for the 97 SS the new FireHawk and WS6, SS HP is @ 320-325 depending on the SLP options.. bottom line.. the stock Ty probably wont handle one in a 1/4 but the 0-60 would bee cool to see.

Had a girlfriend with a '94 Firehawk...
sweet car. 6000 miles, leather... mmmmm.

If everything's running right, it'll be a
good match. I ssupect the 'hawk would run a
14.1 on a good day on the street skins.

They're a jeckle-n-hyde car too... you can't
*not* drive that thing crazy. They're also
load, with that optional SLP exhaust.

Just thought I'd chime in here...

LS1's often (in the right hands) run mid-13s bone stone, and are easy to get into 12s with minimal mods.. like, and airbox lid and a cutout will do it. As someone mentioned, the Formula is often faster than T/A, et al b/c its a little lighter.

Off the line tho, I would give the race to a SyTy b/c with so much rwhp its tricky to hook on street tires. Depending on what mods your truck has tho, on the top end, the LS1 will have a decent chance to catch up with you..

Just ask Christian.. I hear he met a friend of mine with one of those minor-mod'd T/As running 12s at OSW this last week.

*smile* Anyway, let the arguments continue

An LS1 on tires will win 0-60 or come dang close if it's an auto and running strong.

The last one that I raced (12.4 with 3 mods) got the jump, I pulled him back, then he was right by me again at the top of 2nd gear. I'm willing to bet that car is at least 355 to the ground, damn impressive.

a friend of mine just got a new WS6, that thing is pretty quick, although it might just seem faster cause its a stick. i think from a roll he'd take me, but from a stop id take him, and top speed he'd kill me. we'll find out for sure once i get the sy back from the shop, and ill be sure to post results of that.

I have an '01 Formula with headers, and good exhaust. It was recently dyno'd at 330 RWHP. I can run a 13.12 at 108 MPH spinning the tires off the line. It would be fun to watch.
Mine is the lightest body, no T-tops,and a 6-speed. A lot of the Firehawks are loaded with options, and weight.

I am anxious to get my TY running good and get numbers for this one.

I had one of the better running VETTES (im proud to say) a '99 got it new- 13.40 @ 106.6 "STOCK" on the goodyear run flats and a 2.30 60 ft.That was just ideling off the line. With sticky tires, i'd put it against a SY/TY any day.Not bashing them, heck i own one.Just sharing my thoughts and experiences.

cdezz,
It's not ready yet. It runs and drives. Its inspected. It has "ZR-1" wheels from the 'bird on it for now. Under full throttle it overboosts and sets a code 31. I am currently adjusting the wastegate actuator in hopes to get it under control.

I got the ever loving crap kicked out of me by a new WS6 T/A at a stoplight. It was over the summer. Guy rolled up next to me at a light, windows down and t-tops out. Older guy with his wife/SO. Didn't appear to be interested in anything around him, so I didn't spool up the turbo in his face. The thanks I get is him nailing it from about a 5 MPH roll. I didn't have a prayer. I tried, but I felt like I was in my anemic Exploder. It was a perfectly executed fake-out on his part. He knew I'd hang with him (at best) or kick his butt to 60 if I spooled it up.
